Hi there,

Does anyone know if and where in Cornwall you can get a nuchal scan please? Can you get one on the NHS?

Thanks

Sorry, I cant answer you specifically, but I had my 13w scan today, and in Lanarkshire, Scotland, you dont get a nuchal scan - they are being trained on how to do them. Some health boards give you one already, but I dont know about yours. Have you got an early pregnancy unit you could phone to ask?

Tis vey annoying and unfair I know. I opted to deliver at okehampton maternity unit (amazing place and staff!) and opted for scans to be at the RD&E at Exeter, where they do nuchals as standard. The thought of delivering at my local hospital was simply not an option. Are you close to the border for this to be possible? My friends thought I was mad, but personally I think are more mad than judging by the stories I have heard about their experiences at our local hospital

hmm unfortunately not happyjules, we're right down near Penzance so bit of a long way. Wish I could opt for somewhere else tbh, esp as I suspect I'm going to have to have another c section x

I thought Nuchal scans were standard, just moved down to Cornwall to live and work and my friend had her three at Treliske. She got a Nuchal scan didn't even have to ask...
Is Treliske not any good? Am supposed to be having mine now, but might now opt for Helston birthing centre...

DOG am near St Ives, have had 2 sections before so suspect I'll need another, do they do them in Helston?

JazzieJeff, my experiences of Treliske were not too awful but there are a lot of bad things said about it. There's a birthing place nr St Austell as well that's supposed to be v good can't for the life of me think what it's called now tho... might be Penrice?
