Scan on Wednesday - scared instead of excited

I have my 12 week (aka 13 week) scan on Wednesday. I feel I should be excited but I'm just terrified that something will be wrong. I had a mc in December and can't help but think that this is all too good to be true. Hubby keep s telling me not to be silly but I can't help fearing the worst

I can only imagine what you have been through, and I would never tell you to not be silly but try to stay positive and not worry unless there is something to worry about. IYSWIM.
Good luck and I will be thinking of you.

Hi Splatt - I know how you feel I have mine next week and had an mc in December too. I am trying to stay positive but there is this little voice in my head telling me something will be wrong. Try and stay positive as kellze says, I am trying to keep busy and keep my mind of it. Hope it all goes well, good luck.

Hi splatt - I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I've had 4 mc's and recently had my 12 week scan. Everything was great, despite me being nervous and scared. Odds are, if you've made it this far without bleeding or red flags, then you are probably fine...Good luck

You're not alone Splatt, and I think most woman feel like this.

At both of my 12 week scans I thought they were going to tell me I was suffering from phantom pregnancies, and at the 20 week scans I was so nervous thinking they were going to find an abnormality.

I actually find tests make me anxious rather than a source of comfort.

Good luck

Yes scans are horrid and scary things, until you get your little picture and can breath a sigh of releif. I just had an ok 12 week scan after 4 mc, and now dreading the 20 week scan. I use a doppler the night before scans so that I can hear the heart beat and know i wont get a nasty shock at the scan. They aren`t for everyone though . Good luck xx

thinker - I work in a hospital and the number of times I've thought I could just borrow the doppler, or even the ultrasound for a quick check!

Only 24 hours to go now.

Thanks again ladies,
Just to say that all was fine. Lovely to see baby for real. Were in there ages as it refused to get in the correct position for the nuchal translucency! Hubby thinks this awkwardsness signifies a female!!!

Now have 7 weeks to get worrried about the anomaly scan!

Congratulations Splatt - very exciting. I've got my anomoly scan in a couple of weeks. Can be a little worrying but my sister-in-law (who is a GP)told me that generally anything major will have already been picked up. Just try to relax and enjoy it.

totally normal splatt - I have 2 normal pregnancies and quite enjoyed the scans but after a mc last year I have been much more stressed this time around and even though I'm 34 weeks I am still not totally convinced all is well. Distraction is the best approach. Congrats on your lovely scan today.
