Breech baby at 30 weeks - should I be worried?

Hi,

midwife has just said that the baby is breech, I am 30+2. She said not to worry and there is time for the baby to turn on its own, so of course I came home and started googling breech babies and worrying!

If your baby was breech at 30 weeks, did it turn on its own?

My DD was breech at 30 weeks and she didn't turn. Don't panic though I think the chances are 50/50 and there is a lot you can do to try to get them to turn.

I had a procedure at the hospital for them to turn her but it wasn't particularly pleasant and it didn't work.

I ended up having an elective C-Section which was absolutely fine.

I think with these things it's whatever will be, will be - try not to worry, having a breech baby isn't so bad.

One of mine was breech at 38 weeks. I had a ECV, he turned fine with no probs, and was born normally a couple of weeks later (in less than 2 hours)

I agree with Taylor, its not that bad, there are worse things to cope with.

thanks for that, fingers crossed baby will turn before my next appointment at 34 weeks - certainly had lots of movement last night!

Ds1 was breech throughout the whole pregnancy and couldn't turn as he didn't have enough fluid around him.

This baby was breech up to 35 weeks and then he turned. I was surprised as I fully expected him to stay breech.

When my mum was carrying my sister she was breech right up to her due date.

My baby was breech all the way from the 20week scan, and turned only last week at 32-33 weeks. There's still time!

Sorry to hijack, but very related question. My baby at 31 weeks seems still to be moving positions a lot- he/she occasionally likes to lie tranverse, across my stomach which is pretty uncomfortable. You can feel the head/feet projecting on either side of my stomach, so I don't think I'm imagining it. I just assumed I had a fidgety baby! (We're already joking about ADHD!)

Is this something to be worrying about? My next appointment isn't for a fortnight.

Hi, my baby was transverse and moving around alot up until last week, I'm 37 weeks now, and finally his head seems to be staying down, but is not engaged, so he could potentially flip back up again! I'm having a C Section anyway, so it's not that much of a problem, but there were some concerns being expressed about the risk of cord prolapse if my waters broke.

my DD was breech at 30 weeks and pretty much stayed that way until she was born. I called her my sitting buddah! At 34 weeks I had a scan and the doctor said he didn't think she would turn as there wasn't enough room and so we booked an elective c section for 38 weeks. There are things you can do to try and make them turn, have heard that acupuncture in your big toe can work!, but I was of the opinion that if she had sat like that for so long it was obviously where she was most comfortable and left her to it. C section was fine and baby was finr. Dont't panic. Either way it's most important that the baby is healthy and you are fine.

i turned up for my ECV and she was head down

i had reflexology which worked for me

I've just found out my 2nd baby is breech at 32 weeks. I tried spending some time in the knee-chest position this evening - surprisingly uncomfortable! Did anyone find a comfortable way of getting your shoulders lower than your hips to encourage the baby to turn? I've read you should do it for at least 10 minutes at a time several times a day.

My next door neighbours baby turned at 36 weeks, she spent a lot of time on all fours to help him along!

Both my babies turned at 38 weeks just as I was about to be booked in for a section!Did nothing to help turn them. Now pregnant with 3rd would not be surprised if it happened again.

this is giving me hope - just found out mine in breech at 37 weeks - just finished work, had loads planned to do, so as long as I can do it all standing on my head, or on all fours, all good...

s/he has been breech all along, midwife told me s/he was head down and practically enganged two weeks ago, turns out eithr s/he moved, or the midwife got it wrong - so at least you know early and can keep busy trying all those things - moxabustion is meant to be good too - I am running out of time though...
Have ECV booked for tuesday - those of you that had it - was it painful enough to need pain relief?
