Anaemia - bleurghhhh!

I am 16 weeks pregnant with my fourth baby and have had anaemia for about 5 weeks or so - only just had it confirmed and have been prescribed pregaday tablets.

As you can imagine, I feel awful at the moment, i have been incredibly tired for weeks now and actually relieved that there is a reason rather than me just being a wimp!

The tablets I have been prescribed are making me feel a bit sick, I know I need to keep taking them and all that but I wonder if any of you have been in a similar position to me and wanted to ask how long it would be before I feel better and how can I reduce the sicky, upset tumminess of the tablets?

Any tips would be really welcome, thanks

iv been on tablets for weeks now for the same reason, it will probably take about 1week 2 at the most before you start feeling better.
my tablets dont make me feel ill, but as yours dont seem to agree with you, if you go to your gp or mw they might be able to prescribe you different ones that wont have that affect.
hope iv been some help.

I've not taken tablets for anaemia but am on a v. v. high iron prenatal multivitamin (As prescribed by my MW here in america) and I found it made my MS worse. Before I got MS I took it in the morning so I'd remember. When I was ill, I used to take it at night after dinner, so I had a full stomach, and then would sleep so I didn't have to be awake through the queasiest worst.
You might already know all this, but I hope you find something that helps soon.

Thanks everso - yes mine is not related to ms but i do remember in a past pregnancy vitamins made it worse (not this time for some reason) - i think maybe taking it at night is a great idea - as feeling like pants anyway is not help by sicky stomach too.... all so very unfair.

Tragically, I have taken pregnancy multivits with iron since before i got pregnant so i feel a bit cheated really as have never had anaemia in any other pregnancy
