Pregnancy

Low sharp abdo pains at 32 weeks

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and for the last 24 hours or so have been experiencing some new and quite disconcerting abdo pains.

I passed my mucous plug last night, but I know this in itself doesn't necessarily mean anything. However the baby is feeling a lot more 'wriggly' than usual and I'm getting these odd, uncomfortable sensations very low in my abdomen around my bladder and back towards my anal area.

Anybody have any ideas what's going on?

I've had mild period-like pain too and I've just passed some more brown mucous (sorry - no nice way to say that!).

i would advise seeing a midwife today, at the least calling labour ward

you are early at 32 weeks to lose your mucous plug, although it does reform, the fct you hae lost it and you are having pain and uncomfortable feelings would indicate being seen to rule out any prem labour or anyhting like a uti

any pains that are concerning you in pregnancy should be checked out by a medical professional

I'm also 32 weeks, been having these as well, and I too passed a blob of "plug" yesterday, about the size of a grape (sorry for tmi)

I think personally it's that the baby has gone head down and is headbutting/wriggling around on the cervix. It's a really sharp pain, takes my breath away. It's worse when I walk around too.

Hope someone more knowledgeable comes along soon with all the answers for us!

ah, xposted, sorry.

I've not had period types pains or bleeding so it's probably not the same thing. Mine's just a sharp cervix pain, and higher up ligament pains when I walk.

I just phoned the delivery suite hoping they'd say it was nothing, but they want me to 'pop over' (45 minute drive!) so I can get checked out
Fingers crossed I'll be home again soon!

Thanks for asking
Well I just got home! They kept me in for 24 hours+ for obs and gave me two steroid injections to help develop baby's lungs just in case. Looks like a false alarm though. They've advised me to have the week off and rest, and to contact them immediately if I have any bleeding, worse pain or contractions. Fingers crossed baby was just having a funny five minutes!!

thanks for the update, it shows it is always worth being checked out, even if all is well, so that you have the reassurance and you can relax.. and steps are taken just in case labour is imminent.x
