Pregnancy

Desperate :-( where can I get maternity bras for larger ladies

memorylapse · 18/03/2010 21:31

Im 33 weeks pregnant..before pregnancy I was a size 18/20 and fitted into 38 dd from Bravissimo...since 28 weeks I have been bra less due to being unable to find anyone who stocks non underwired bras above 40...I can have any cup size I want..but not back size..

I have today been reduced to tears after traipsing round various stores inc mothercare and baravissimo who are unable to help as Im now measuring up 46 DD

the other problem is that I may well find an online supplier but realistically I need to try the bras on..can anyone advise..at this rate Im going to need a boob job after the birth and Ive got images of me not being able to get feeding bras

Have a look here. They stock a massive range of back and cup sizes; they're not the most glamorous place, but I did find one or two not too awful styles which might help.

It's amazing that your boobs have stayed the same size, but your back size has changed so much. I've always been worried that my boobs would grow if I get pg - they're too big for comfort now .

Did you get measured in Bravissimo?

I got my bras from M&S. They weren't maternity ones, but extra support ones and they were so comfortable. The lady who measured me was just fantastic as well, made me feel so comfortable standing there with just a bra on (and bottoms obviously).

I was also going to suggest www.amplebosom.com/
Give them a call on the phone

thank you ..I think the problem now is because bump is so high thats whats filling out the back size..

I wasnt measured in Bravissimo as they tend to just go on looking at you..but they have a very limited stock of non underwired bras and the ones they had were far too small..I couldnt even do them up..think the biggest they did was 38 dd.
marks and sparks unfortunately didnt have anything bigger than a 38 at the time I was in.

the amplebosom website looks great..is the delivery quick?? Im not too worried about them looking fairly functunal at the moment

you can wear wired in pg but they need to fit properly

figleaves.com also has some stock
usually you can get a discount code and returns are free

triumph doreen isn't glam but it would do the job

Eldon..the problem is more my size..Ive tried wired too but they simply dont go up to my size

amplebosom got me all excited..had my size..price £67..I simply cannot afford £67 for one bra as am totally skint at the mo due to being self employed and unable to work at the mo...ho hum

Try Rigby & Peller had a mum who was 32K and they made all her nursing bra's (were underwired)

They do have 42 listed in their advice centre and i believed that they could make bra's to order to fit the customer.

I may just give amplebosom a call anyway tomorrow..got to be worth a try..feeling a bit demoralised at the mo..Ive actually lost two stone since becomming pregnant due to hyperemesis and diabetes and am hardly massive now..but I think its my bump which is boosting the back size up

There are some reasonably priced ones in your size - £26 for a Triumph Doreen.

Not glam, but very definitely better than droopy boobs

Or the Fully Cotton Comfort Soft Cup Bra at £19.00 looks OK too.

I really recommend Bravado bras (they have lots of stockists on the net). They are very comfy, the original ones are almost more like cropped tops. They give plenty of support while being flexible enough to handle changes in boob size and I still occassionally wera mine (although I'm long past pg or bfing).

By the way, I ordered three different cup sizes and just sent two back when my boobs settled down.

Could you get the back extender things to keep you going? £67 is a lot for one bra for 7 weeks! I presume your back size will drop down in size pretty quickly post pregnancy as it's due to the bump? (First pregnancy here though so not too sure!)

I have just noticed too that they have a stockist at the Jo Jo Maman Bebe store in Knutsford which is only about 40 mins from me so ll ring them up tomorrow and see what size they in store...I feel so releived..thought I was done for as the only thing holding my boobs up at the moment is my bump

trillian..I think thats what I did when preg before..just got a back extender, have no idea where I put it though!

Ample bosom are great and they do have your size with bras around the £30 mark? which is roughly same as Bravissimo.
Theyre not lookers though are they! but then not that much in pregnancy is!
Comfort is key I say
