Low lying anterior placenta & c-section

The title says it all really. I am booked to have a elective section in 7 weeks time, and at my last scan it was noted that I have a low lying anterior placenta. I am being scanned next week to see if it has moved up (and I am praying that it has). Because of this I am really scared that this could mean a severe hemorrhage. I have had a previous very traumatic birth experience with a tragic outcome, and was hoping that the c-section option could offer some peace of mind.
I guess I am just wondering if anyone else has had the same and how the c section went.

I had an emergency c-section due to placenta praevia and it went smoothly, no post partum hemorrhage at all. I had had a couple of bleeding episodes before hand, but not too heavy.

I'm afraid I don't know whether the placenta was anterior or not. Also was probably not very low since after a scan at 36 weeks I was told it had moved back up....

I'm sure you'll be ok. In the vast majority of cases it does move back up.
Good luck!

Hi, I also have an anterior low lying placenta, I am 22 weeks and will be scanned again at 36 weeks so am hoping the placenta moves up for me too.

My mw was quite confident it would, she said the majority of them do. I wish you all the best of luck x

I had a planned c-section which went smoothly and even though I bled quite a lot during the operation there was no post partum hemorrhage, in fact there was hardly any bleeding after the op.

Good luck!

A low lying placenta earlier on in the pregnancy is absolutely normal in most cases. The lower segment of the uterus has not stretched yet as it does do later on in pregnancy. As the baby gets bigger and pregnancy progresses the placenta 'moves up'.

I had a low lying anterior placenta this timeand was rescanned at 32 weeks - thankfully it had moved. I have my csection in 3 weeks.

i had placenta previa and anterior facing, i lost minimal blood in my elcs, a lot less than my friend who had a straight forward VB 4 weeks before me.
so i don't think you need to worry too much, also if anything did go wrong, you couldn't be in a better place could you? all those staff and blood ready to be given if needed.

Thanks for the reassurance.
Hopefully it will have moved when we go to see on monday, but its good to know its not a total disaster if it hasn't (c-section happening either way).
