ECV?

Hi

I'm 37+2 with my first and the baby is in an extended breech position (I was also extended breech and born by EMCS - some sort of genetic predisposition?!)

I'm booked in to have an ECV tomorrow morning but I don't feel at all comfortable with the idea. Surely there's a reason the baby hasn't turned and the research I've done isn't very comforting. The chances of it working are low and I've read it's likely to be very uncomfortable/painful. DH thinks I should just do it and the very brusque consultant at the hospital didn't make it clear that it's a voluntary procedure. And now I've got myself all in a tizz!

Has anyone has a successful ECV? Or an unsuccessful one? Any advice anyone?

Hi Biscuits,
I've not had an ECV--I avoided one by using moxibustion (acupuncture) and though I was highly skeptical, it worked. So I can't advise about it, but if you're uncomfortable with it, can you have a planned CS? At my hospital, breech babies aren't permitted VBAC attempts, so one would avoid a risky labour and EMCS. I suppose your decision to try ECV depends on how you feel about your options for delivery. Sorry I'm not knowledgeable about it but I hope this helps.
