loads of movement

hi all - i know its a bit silly to be worried about too much movement but just looking for some advice. im 38+4 and last night the baby was going totally nuts when i was in bed. i especially felt the movement really low down at the very bottom of the bump - like where it stops being a bump if that makes sense. it felt like someone was rummaging around inside. bit confused about how it could feel like that if thats where the head is? he's quietened down now but was deinitely a bit frantic for an hour or so last night. this is nothing to worry about is it?

I wouldn't say so. My DS was an acrobat kicking ten bells out of me right the way through. I remember thinking I was going to give birth to an alien rather than a baby... This time I'm worrying cos it's the other way.. the kicking is so much less (I'm 31 weeks now)..

Mothers prerogative to worry!

Has he already dropped frodob? If not, maybe that's what's happened and he's now further down in your pelvis, so where you think the head should be is actually little arms?
With regards to the amount of movement, not to scare you but I have heard that frantic, jerky movement followed by no movement can mean they've gotten tangled in the cord; has he gone back to moving "normally" since last night? I'm sure it's nothing; mine goes crazy for a bit from time to time, sometimes I could swear she's trying to escape through my bellybutton!

I had a day like that when I was pregnant with my now 2 year old (healthy as you like) DD. She went utterly, utterly crazy for about 4 hours. Then stopped and went back to normal. I did ask the midwives but they said all was fine. And thtey were right. But it never ever hurts to ask - as a general principle I subscribe to the "trust your mother's intuition and you won't go far wrong" school of thought
