I saw a thread further down on anti-emetic drugs but I don't think that applies to me. I actually don't vomit much, maybe once a day but I feel so nauseous and dizzy, shivering and with a permanent lump in my throat that I could tear my hair out. I don't sleep at night because of it and looking after my dd1 has become hell.

I've tried all I can: ginger, camomile, wet towels, nice smelling salts, travel bands, acupuncture, etc. I'm on the verge of a break-down, I don't know what to do, please help.

What can I do to stop this awful sickness? I'm only 6 weeks, so presumably this will carry on for another 6 and I just cannot cope. My doctor is loathe to prescribe me anything.

I really really sympathise....I've come out the other side of it now (am 36 wks) but I was just the same and it truly is horrendous. Are you managing to eat at all? I found that the only thing that helped me was not to let myself get hungry as that made the nausea so much worse. Not easy when you can't stomach the thought of food but I found that carbs worked best (biscuits, crackers, toast). I also found sucking boiled sweets helped too, as did drinking lemon and ginger tea (Twinings) and lemonade.

I wore travel bands constantly for about 6 weeks too, although not sure if they worked at all as was too scared to take them off in case I felt even worse!

I know it won't help you but it really will end and you will start to feel better. Realise that doesn't help you at the moment but the end is in sight!

Oh i know exactly how you feel i am 13+4,and was hoping i would start to feel better by now.One thing i would recommend is to drink plenty of fluid, and eat little and often . Try and rest when possible i know not always that easy when you have a little one to look after .Try not to think of the next six weeks and take 1 day at a time some will be better than others

Thank you, I know it's not a nice thing to say in this case but it makes me feel a bit better knowing I'm not alone. I honestly wonder how Dh could persuade me to have another one. I have just forced myself to be sick (sry TMI) and I'm better now.

Aw, heth, you're nearly there, you lucky thing

bigmuther, I know, the enormity of 6 weeks sounds like eternity.. I must try and lie down more. 2 more weeks and I'll be at my Mum's for a fortnight so I can sleep all day if I fancy..LOL. And I do fancy that

another vote here for constant snacking. i found a mouthful or two of something, ideally a carb, lessened the nausea.
hopefully it won't go beyond 12 weeks for you.

Thanks sunshiney, I've tried it but 10mins after eating something I feel sick again. Even forcing myself to be sick doesn't stop the nausea for any length of time.

What is this nux vomica 6c? Does it help bwith nausea or is it only inhibiting the vomiting? Does anyone have experience with this please?
