Travel Insurance after 28 weeks (have also posted in Travel)

Hi, We're going on a family holiday to Spain for a week and our current annual insurance states they don't provide cover after 28 weeks - frustratingly I can only find this same exclusion in all the policies I've compared on-line. Even the price-comparison websites say you have to read individual wording on every policy to check cover - I can't seem to add this as a search criteria. I will be 29+4 on our return date, which seems to be fine with the airlines (some need DR's letter between 28-34 wks) but I don't know how to find an insurance policy which can provide the cover. Any tips gratefully accepted, thank you.

Difficult I know, we chose our holiday based on the fact I would be 27 weeks on return, which is all that I could find. I'd suggest you try phoning a couple of the insurers and see if you can get a specific inclusion based on your dates - it's always possible to negotiate with insurance policies - just make sure you get stuff in writing.

I knew the airlines varied, and checked the flights before we booked our accommodation, I think I just assumed the insurance companies covered normal pregnancy!

Hi there - I posted about this before as I am traveling a lot for work so really needed the insurance to work out.

I rang around lots of the insurance companies... and it is important to check that the cover would be extended to your baby once it was born. I first took out a policy with the AA and had to cancel it as they said the baby wouldn't be covered.

I tried Ravenhall first as everyone recommends them but the wouldn't cover me for pre-existing conditions (very mild asthma) and were very abrupt so wouldn't go with them.

The most helpful (and who I finally ended up going with) was insureandgo.com.

Do take your maternity notes with you and your EHIC card and you might just want to check out where the nearest hospital is just in case (this was the advice I had from my midwife).

Hi Lucy101 - that's really strange because I have asthma and take regular medication and they were happy to cover me so long as I declared it and spoke to their medical screening team. They were very friendly to me but i suppose it depends who you talk to.

I had insurance from Ravenhall for travelling at 28-31 weeks. Found them very helpful and friendly.
