Am 36 weeks pregnant. I can't sleep. Baby movements when she goes are massive and painful but then she will be silent for ages making me wish for the movement. Can't get comfy sitting or lying down. Have no motivation to do anything (am supposed to be working from home at mo). Having lots of braxton hicks but know I probably still have at least another four weeks of this and every day it gets just a bit worse! I know this is all part of natures master plan to make labour seem like a relief but grrrrrrrrr! Phew that felt better to whinge (despite me knowing I also have a lot to be thankful for- this baby is alive and kicking (previous mmc), have not put weight on anywhere other than bump in fact lost weight everywhere else!, have not had piles, carpal tunnel, restless legs, swollen ankles or anything so prob by most standards this is a straightforward pregnancy (apart from the stopping breathing in night thingy and reduced foetal movement dramas!)

Please post your grumps here and enjoy ordering cyberrly all the things you shouldn't eat (mine is a baked in box Camembert and large glass of rose cava thanks!). Of course the added advantage of starting this thread is that of you are all feeling much worse than me, then I shall feel very nesh and maybe pull myself together instead of being a great big grumpy pants!

Ditto at 39+5. Can't wait for it to all be over.

Can't sleep - have got hold of some lavender oil to put on pillow that someone suggested but does any one know if this is safe to use?

Mine's a runny fried egg, some pate and some rrare roast beef please!

Lavender oil should be fine I think as my massage therapist started using it on me this week (and I am fine so I'll be your guinea pig!). Highlight of my life at mo is course of pregnancy massage I used my health in pregnancy grant on!

At your stage in preg you could probably start massaging those ankle points supposed to help bring on labour- am waiting another couple of weeks then going to start mine! Google acupressure in preg and labour!

28 weeks, and fed up with not being able to sleep in comfort. All that rolling around trying to get comfortable and turning over 20 times a night, trying to keep my knees together so that my pelvis doesn't make a horrible cracking noise. And waking up at all hours with a dry mouth due to pregnancy induced nasal congestion. Grrrrr. Thanks for the whinge.

Lavender oil is fine. I've got a lavender-filled bag tucked into my pillow.

Am exhausted but can't sleep, when I do get to sleep I last no more than an hour before I wake myself up because my hip has gone numb (am 33 weeks with a massive bump). Turn over, repeat until 5am then get up in defeat.

Baby feels like it's constantly trying to fight its way out of a paper bag.

I'll have a starter of liver pate, a blue sirloin steak for mains followed by a cheese board of brie and stilton. And a bottle or two or merlot.

Hi Ladies

36+5 days, petrified that the weather is so bad i wont make it to hospital when i go into labour (previous very quick labours) but cant have homebirth due to strep b.

DH is sooo stressd, hes terrified hes going to have to deliver this baby by himself, hes driving me mad! Feel like telling him to get a grip!

Got an extra scan tomorrow (if i can get there due to snow) because babys position is not good.

Have got a varicose vein on my labia the size of a bus, very painful at times!

Thats my moan, i'll skip starters and main and im going to go for homemade Baileys Cheesecake (with extra Baileys)

just 39 weeks here, head fully engaged for over a week and feeling like SUCH a heffalump these days. Can't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time before waking up uncomfortable/and or needing a wee (with you on the hip thingy boardbunny!)

And every little twinge where I think "ooh is this things starting?", isn't!

Mine's a biiiig wedge of ripe brie and fruit to start, and a rare steak to follow, then for pudding some sort of proper chocolate mousse, oh and bottle of shiraz on the side oooh I feel better for that lot!

Boardbunny I have been eating rare steak - at first I thought it wasn't allowed but then when I got my NHS pregnancy book from the midwife it states very clearly that it's fine to eat rare steak or whole rare cuts of red meat as long as the outside is properly sealed. It's only things with mince, sausages, poultry etc that you need to worry about being properly cooked throughout.

Ooh PS could I please have a cold pint of lager, then maybe a load of lovely red wine? Some Brie and Stilton to go with that would be fab. I miss booze...

I really miss curling up all alone on my sofa on an evening, getting a lovely bottle of wine and getting totally sloshed while I wallow in self pity because my life is so crap.

Mine is a large, large bottle of south african chardonnay, and 20 marlboro lights.

and i don't care if thats bad!

Ice cold champers please...have a particular vintage in mind. Along with some nice fresh seafood....hmmmm....

And I'll throw an ice cold beer in there for luck aswell.

Am 38+2, booked in for elec cs. Have been willing this baby to come out since 37 weeks (when DS is born) and now because of the snow, am willing it to stay put!!! But only 5 days to go! Hoorah!

Nice glass of wine and some really ripe brie for me please

Report

mmmmmmm brie. And unlimited coffee. Then dessert wine.

If you're craving chocolate mousse, blondiemix try this one here as it has no eggs in and takes about 20 mins to make. YUM YUM. And i used bournville chocolate and it was still yum!

Oh please can I join. 38 +2, can't get comfy and horribly aware that baby prefers to lie back to back which means if I do for 5 mins find a tollerable position am wracked with guilt/paranoia that I am not encouraging him/her into a "good labour position". Braxton Hicks getting stronger and accompanied off and on by period like pains as well which make me think things are starting but then everything goes quiet again. SOOOOOO frustrating. Totally agree with OP that baby moves and it is really horrid (especially when head rolls back and forth across bladder Bleug) or baby lies still until I'm convinced something is horrible wrong.

Also made the mistake of going to see Paranormal Activity 2 weeks ago and still get the horrors that evil demon is after me/DP everytime I get up in the night for a wee. Which is about 7 times.

When oh when will it end. [cries]

Waves to woowa - funny how our Feb ante-natal thread has become a bit of a dumping ground for complaints only in the last couple of weeks - Thandeka you should join us!

I am 35+5.

Since Christmas I have struggled and the last week has been worse. I can't sit for longer than an hour as I get pain across my back. If movement stops or slows down, I panic, but movement honestly feels like someone trying to bore out through my stomach, or bounce up and down on my cervix (head first luckily). I lost count of how many times I woke up last night to go for a pee. I have a physical fatigue that overtakes me sometimes so I just want to lie down on the floor and go to sleep.

Am also working from home, and I can't work as I can't sit for very long and I can't concentrate on anything!

Here in France I have an extra ten days on my EDD (for some silly reason they give EDDS between 41/42 weeks) so everyone keeps telling me I have ages to go.

I would like to drink unlimited coffee too, a sneaky cigarette after dinner, outside in the cold, coming back in to finish off a bottle of wine. I would like two dozen oysters and foie gras with figs and brioche, which everyone ate at Christmas, except me.

I'm 34 + 2. Exhausted after Christmas and New Year having had dh's entire extended family to stay for 10 days (worked out that I cooked over 300 meals in the time...). Back to work today and dh left last night, away until v late Friday. Need to sleep but take a long time to get comfortable and frequently wake with buzzing thoughts. Nauseated again. Falling apart pelvis. Manic 2yo. 2 older dcs who push their luck too often atm. Nothing good on TV! Would really like a week in a spa hotel . Will settle for mat leave coming round extra quickly (not for another 3 weeks - boo).

Boiled egg with soldiers for me. And loads of stilton and smoked salmon (not together).

Keep getting a stitch on the right hand side when I walk too far - or run for the phone (like I did today - wrong number - doh!) Three weeks to go.

Great thread - much, much needed on my part. Am 37+ 5 and have another week and a half of work before mat leave kicks in. Am working with a friend so can't imagine for a second letting her down by leaving before project finished but am feeling unbelievably crap and would give anything to be off before then.

Xmas and New Year really busy with family (all mine so my own fault) but managed to wind up in hospital overnight in the middle of it all after having breathing probs. Now have just been diagnosed with a kidney infection this morning. Am literally coming home from work and collapsing on sofa/in bed. Also have high blood pressure and a bit of a sniffle so feeling very sorry for myself.

Only good thing is my amazing, amazing partner being totally lovely and sweet and making me tea every night and looking after me so brilliantly. That includes giving me massages virtually every night. He will be the best dad in the world.

Off to finish some work and then dream of runny brie and pate on fresh crusty bread with an excellent bottle of white wine and oysters.

And despite it all, I keep reminding myself how very lucky I am to have what I hope is a healthy baby inside me.

boardbunny · 06/01/2010 19:59

Emster thanks for the steak update, so confusing, other places say 'avoid all traces of blood' etc etc, I love blood oozing out of my steak.

Blondie - Aldi were selling those long body pillows the other day, I got one for £11 and have been hugging that in bed. Has helped the hip situation marginally although DH now wonders exactly where he is meant to fit in the bed alongside a big pregnant wife and a pillow the size of a person.

Oh, and liver! I miss liver.

Eurgh - can't imagine missing liver. Except in pate. Would kill for a seafood platter though.

I have also been told that rare steak is fine...though oddly enough they go bonkers about it in France and tell pg women not to go near the stuff. I've had it several times over the last few months. And plenty runnny eggs too - though never ones where the yolk is still cold.

36+5 weeks pg with dc2. Dd is 19mo.

Babies head si 3/5ths engaged and dont I know it. I have back ache, piles and walk like a twat. I have stopped visiting people for fear of my waters exploding over their sofas!

I long to play properly with dd as I feel guilty for her just bringing me books to read.

I also miss being able to roll in bed without having to drag a ten ton weight with me.

I know damn well once I have baby I will miss my bump though and want it back in
