Difficult pregnancy = Easier labour?

Am 30 weeks today and praying for the next 10 weeks to fly by!! Have been told over and over again by so many different people that, as title says, difficult pregnancy makes for an easier, quicker labour! Now I know people may just be saying that but just wondered if anyone here has experience of it being true? (I hope so!! ) Lol. I've suffered, and am continuing to suffer from hyperemesis and am also worried about excessive vomiting causing early labour! (I hope not!) Any truth in these myths?

Wasn't true for me, I'm afraid.

My friend had a terrible pregnancy - hypermesis all the way through, ended up in hospital with high blood pressure then induced due to pre-eclampsia at 36 weeks.

She was induced with the gel, had the baby a few hours later, pushing stage consisted of 2 pushes!

I had a textbook pregnancy, 24 hours labour, pushing stage of 2+ hours, failed ventouse, forceps, episiotomy and 2nd degree tear.

I guess we prove your theory!

Sorry no - DS = awful pregnancy, horrific birth and tetchy non sleeping baby.

However DD = awful pregnancy, great birth and very chilled out baby!

Mine point towards the idea that a good birth = happy baby.

It was for me
I had hypermesis all the way through, both times
But had very quick labours, just gas and air with DS and nothing with DD
In fact, DD arrived exactly on her due date!

Sorry but best friend 1 has had 2 very easy pregnancies, 1 horror birth and 1 easy. Best friend 2 had easy pregnancy and delivery. Another friend had dreadful pregnancy and worse labour. I think it's just the luck of the draw

I have had a very easy pregancy so I hope you are wrong !

As Filibou said, it's the luck of the draw. I had 3 lovely pregnancies and short, straightforward, medically 'easy' labours with very short pushing stages. Hope it goes well for you.

For me, awful pregnancy (so many ailments!) - awful labour.....

2nd time round, not as bad pregnancy am hoping for an easier labour!

I had a fantastic pregnancy and difficult, 76 hour labour so maybe there's something in it.
Hope so for your sake!
