Pregnancy

silly question on early movement

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting, but I've been reading the posts for the last couple of months and they've been really helpful.

My question is this: I had a tummy tuck two years ago and my muscles were tightened. This is my first pregnancy and I began to feel movement at around 14 weeks, although didn't realise it was movement at first. When I was asked at the 15 week midwife check if I could feel movement, I said I thought I could and she told me it was too early.

I'm now 18 weeks today and yesterday noticed that, when lying on my back, I can see the baby moving, pushing out at the bottom of my 'bump' (although there's barely a bump there) and can also feel the baby moving by placing my hand on the area. Is this normal so early or should I be worried that there may not be enough fluid or something? It may have something to do with having the muscles tightened, but has anyone else felt movement from 'outside' so early?

I think I may be worrying for no reason, but there seems to be so much to worry about! Thank you.

Hello BabyWriggler!
Like you I felt vague movements early on. My first proper kick (that DH could feel from the outside) was 19 weeks, so pretty similar to you. No visible bump until about 28 weeks - but that probably cos I'm tall and had plenty of places to hide the baby! Talk to your midwife if you're worried. Are you due a 20 week scan soon?

I'm due a scan on 20th January, so another couple of weeks but I'm going on holiday on Tuesday so won't be able to contact the midwife whilst away for a week. I feel a bit silly worrying when the baby is moving around so much, I would assume this means everything's ok, but it's hard not to worry about things. Thanks for your answer, it makes me feel better that you felt things around the same time.

Can I just ask at what point I should be counting "regular" movements? I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and have been feeling on/off movements for a few weeks now and had my 20week scan which was fine. I'm just not sure at what point these movements should be come regular

Thanks for your answers, makes me feel a lot better to know that it doesn't seem unheard of to feel movement this early.

I know what you mean, frasersmummy, I did wonder why she asked me the question if she was going to answer it for me lol

Everyone is different. I have felt my babies move at different stages. This one took a bit longer even though I thought you felt them earlier the more you had.

I have been seeing baby move for a while now. I am 26 weeks but remember seeing my belly wobble about at about 20 weeks.

I had a bulge at the side of my bump at around this time when I was at the midwife's. She told me it was too soon to be the baby but I cant think what else it wouldve been!

I dont think anything you describe sounds that unusual.

everyone is different. midwife said same to me she asked me have you felt any movements i had since 15 weeks, she looked at me and said wel thats too soon to feel anything its probably gas!! but i knew it was baby as when i did feel her it would be a little kick and would make me jump and have the feeling of when someone makes u jump lol. i told her i think my placenta is at the bottom or something as i could feel the movements early on and she practicly told me it should be at the front! 20 week scan showed it was at the bottom!!

I felt all of mine by 18-20 weeks. If you had a tummy tuck it is also likely you had fat cut or lipo'd from the tummy are, so I would assume it would be easier to actually see movements.

I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair a 18 months ago, and am now seven weeks pregnant. Have you been told what to expect after a tummy tuck with a pregnancy? I am nervous.
