Pregnancy

37 weeks and feeling "weird"

Should I bother phoning labour ward...??

I'm not in any pain but I do definately feel "weird" - the best way to describe it is feeling "light headed all over" - and I don;t quite know what to do with myself, I'm unsettled and uncomfy..

Had a good night's sleep last nightm, but since I woke up I've had a couple of "explosive" trips to the loo and I've been sick.

I'm booked in for a section in 12 days time at 39 weeks - I'm not really supposed to go into labour and if I did they would take me in and give me my section now.

Problem is that, whilst the hospital is only 5 mins away, and if they asked me to come in to check me over, then I have quite a childcare problem - my Mum is away at her sisters for New Year - she is happy to head home any time but she is 3 hours away, and, although she would come I feel really bad about calling her and getting her to cut short her trip (she is 2 days into a weeks stay away) of the hospital would just take my blood pressure and send me home. My DH has said that his Mum has every intention on coming down, but she is an hour's drive away, won't actually drive herself even though she has a car (she'll only use it to drive to her Mum's and back, she won't drive to our house), there are no buses today and she would need to try and find a lift from someone to bring her - so again I'd be putting out a lot of people just to nip down to the hosptial to get my BP checked and sent home (which I suspect is all that would happen - I'm not having contractions or anything).

(We'd need childcare as we have 2 other children and my DH would want to be with me in the hospital even if they were just monitoring me)

Its not really worth bothing the hospital with a phone call is it - not until its something more tangible than "vagueness"..is it..??

Call them or go in. Purging by vomiting or pooing is a sign that your body is preparing for labour.

Best wishes.

My hospital definately doesn;t have anywhere to store my children - its where I've been for their births and its always made very clear that they have no facilities at all for other children and their monitoring ward doesn;t even allow children to visit...

I'll keep an eye on things - Thansk allstarprincess - I did wonder about that...

In your situation, I would get into the hospital now. Let your DH stay at home with the kids. If the monitoring shows that someone needs to get to you - then get someone coming down as soon as you know. Then as soon as is feasible, your DH can join you.

If you must have a section, then sitting at home waiting is not the best thing to do IMO. We were without backup care for DS for a few days and as much as DH hated the idea, if I had needed to, I would have gone to hospital on my own.
