Hi, I've been invited to a Scandinavian themed night at a friend's house for new year's day and I'm really looking forward to it. However I'm now wondering whether, as I'm 9 weeks pregnant, I can eat the stuff... Pickled fish, cold meats, amazing cheeses including soft cheeses etc etc.
I asked my doc about smoked salmon and she said that was fine...does that mean pickled fish might be ok too?
Any help, especially from someone from that part of the world, would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi - yes, don't miss it for the world! There's bound to be lots you can eat, such as cured meats and bread and (just avoid unpasteurised blue ones) cheese and other lovely things. Pickled fish should be fine. Just remember that women in France, Japan and Scandinavia etc. eat these things throughout their pregnancies with no problems whatsover. Eat what you fancy and enjoy, lucky thing...

Hi, it's fine! I've had it now for 2 days in a row (am Scandi!). It's all yummy! Herring/sill, various salmon, hams and cold meats, meat balls, sausages etc is no problem. Soft cheeses and pates are only exceptions, same recomendations as in the UK, so it's up to you really. Enjoy!
