hi,

can anyone please help. im worrying myself sick. i posted the other day as im getting bad migraines during this pregnancy and itching like mad. im only 14 weeks. im also having dizzy spells where on sunday i almost blacked out.

i went to see the doctor yesterday and he's finally given me something stronger than paracetamol, co codamol 8/500 for when my migraines are bad and also a diprobase cream for the itching. my blood pressure is normal if not slightly low as it always is.

he listened to my heart when he took my blood pressure and told me i should have an ecg done because of the dizziness. does this sound normal. i left the surgery in a bit of shock and didnt really ask questions. its next monday the ecg and also bloodtests for the dizziness. im assuming hes checking for anaemia or something.

im worrying myself sick now that there's something wrong with my heart which is why he's sent me for an ecg. has anyone else routinely been given one for dizziness?

woke this morning with a migraine again and havent gone to work. i cant cope like this for the whole of the pregnancy.i rang to get an appointment with the midwife today to check the baby and just reassure me about it all and i cant get in with her.

im just not coping well at the moment.any advice/experience is appreciated. i didnt feel like this at all with my other two pregnancies so its all a bit of a schock to be honest.

thank you

Is will be to look to see your heart rate - is your pulse slow? or to see if it is irregular - or has pauses.

if you have either both can be treated ever so easily so try not to worry - it won't do you any good at all (easier said than done!)

try your midwife again - does she have a number you can speak to her?

thank you. ive left a message with the receptionist to get the midwife to ring me as they wont let me got see her as there are no appointments left. i will see when she rings me what she says.its just really panicked me.

i dont know if my pulse is slow or anything. the doctor just took my blood pressure, didnt tell me what it was, listened with the stethascope thing and said for me to have an ecg done and blood tests. im hoping he's just being thorough and covering all ideas but it does worry me that he's heard something. i know my blood pressure isnt high, it ever is, if anything it goes rather low.

im glad if it is the pulse being slow etc that it can be treated easily. it just panics me thinking there might be something wrong with my heart, especially when i get palpitations sometimes.i havent even mentioned that though.

do you know what they do with an ecg? they said id be there for half an hour for it and then ten minutes for the blood tests

thank you. im sure it will be ok. im just panicking after everything else that has happened lately im just worried something is going to be wrong with me or the baby. midwife hasnt rung yet. if she hasnt by lunch i will ring her and see what she says. it seems ages to when im 16 weeks and hopefully get to hear the heartbeat and be reassured even though its only two weeks away.

I had an ecg for dizziness when pregnant. I had chest pain as well. Your bp might go up when you are in the doctors becuase you are anxious.

i still havent heard from the midwife and the doctors receptionist said she's left a message with her and i should just wait. its obvious she's not going to see me today but at least she should hopefully reassure me if she rings me back.

ive been online and hired a doppler so i can hopefully hear the babys heartbeat at home whenever i like when it arrives. that should reassure me between appointments.

we've had so much go wrong in past pregnancies and im only 14 weeks this time yet so much has happened already im just not going to relax properly until i can feel the baby kicking and moving and knowing its ok every day.
