Gastroenteritis (aka stomach flu) and high temperature

Hi

This is my first post on here as I've never had anything to post about really! But I do read the posts by ladies here and think it's a good supportive group.

Basically this pregnancy has been uneventful up until now... I'm 28 weeks and have had Gastroenteritis along with a high temperature. It's been awful! Don't even know where it had started from...

Went into hospital yesterday. After ruling out swine flu they informed me I may have Gastroenteritis but took further tests in case. Been told to just have fluids until my stomach settles and paracetemol for the high temperature.

Has anyone else had this? Or know of anyone whose had this?

I'm really worried about the impact it's having on my little girl!! Am thinking I should go back into the hospital so they can check she has enough fluid around her as I've been really dehydrated.

Am I over-reacting?

I'm sure your angel is fine and oblivious to it all! You are not over-reacting though. If you feel dehydrated at all then definitely go back to the hospital -- this is something a doctor would want to monitor.

I hope you feel better soon!

Just wanted to echo what teletubby said - your little one will be just fine. Your body will protect her before it protects you.

My heart goes out to you though - proper gastroenteritis is awful. I had it when my DH was out of the country and my children were aged 14months and 1.5 weeks. I would have welcomed death with open arms.

Get well soon. And suck ice lollies. Stays down better.
