Asking for a friend, 18wks and in pain

Yesterday she stood up (slowly) and got a shooting pain in the left side of her belly. She couldn't move for pain, she could just about walk bent like and then went and lied down in agony for 3hrs.

She can't stand, sit very comfortably, and can't pee cos she can't push iukwim?!

I said stretching pains/baby on a nerve but she said nothing is helping.

Any ideas? She doesn't really want to go to the doctor and waste his time so I said I'd ask here.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear your friend is suffering. I'm 18wks too and I've had lots of pain when I move. For me its muscular, its dead easy to yank the muscles around and these can hurt for a while.
But I strongly suggest that if your friend is worried then pop down to her local GP's or give the midwife a call. If she doesn't want to see the doc could she request a phone consultation?
I'm off to the GP's as I think I have a trapped nerve in my bum and my husband says I can't go round holding my bum any more!!

i had this around the same time, i was woken up in the night with the worst stitch like pain ever, a warm bath eased it. this happened on several occasions at various times leaving me doubled with pain, ended up phoning on call docs and was checked out at hospital. all was well they put it down to stretching pains as it only lasted a couple of weeks! hope your friend feels better soon. the doctor wont think shes wasting there time, better to be safe than sorry if shes stressing!!!!
