did it affect you for very long?

I had it yesterday and my arm is agony, and I spent most of last night shivering and sweating as though I had flu and today I'm aching all over. Just wondering how long I can expect to feel like this?!

3 days with the painful arm. The first night, i could not move my arm at all, I forgot i had the jab and woke up wondering what on earth i had done to it, before realising the following morning that i had the injection there! It feels like a muscle has been badly pulled at top or arm. The in the day it improved, then following night it hurt like hell, then gradually improved, so by the end of third day pretty much ok.

I woke the morning after the injection feeling a bit fluey, this lasted all day, then disappeared.

WMMC I would recommend you get it done in your non dominant arm, as it stopped me being able to use my arm fully for at least 1 day.

And take some paracetamol before you go to bed.

Sounds like a pretty normal reaction, albeit perhaps more severe than normal. It can't give you flu, since it's a dead virus, but it can give mild flu like symptoms.

I had it Tues (in my non-dominant arm, as per Pavlov's advice) and had pretty bad pain in my arm Tues night through to Thurs morning (couldn't really use it much, couldn't sleep on that side etc). Also had (very) mild body aching. I've had much worse reactions to the seasonal flu jab in the past so was quite happy!

Exactly the same for me. My GP warned me it was a "bit" sore - ha! Apparently it's common with the swine flu jab. Stiff and sore all up arm across shoulder and neck. Bt wiped out yesterday and headachey (also had normal flu jab at same time - in dominant arm - and that was fine). Had it on Thurs and arm stll quite sore to touch and can't sleep on it but not takng paracetamol today like yesterday.

Had mine 10 am and at 5pm overtaken by a severely painful arm! lasted the whole of the next day and had slight headache too.

Now have a cold but don't think it has anything to do with the jab as so does dh and the dcs and I'm the only one who had the jab.

The pain lasted for just over two days (had it on Thursday afternoon - was gone when I woke on Sunday).

For women late in pregnancy who are trying to sleep on their left, but are right-handed, I would recommend having the shot in your right arm anyway. It was really hard to lie on my left hand side because it hurt so much; I had to gently lower myself onto that arm, and not move too much when I was down. Raising my arm above shoulder height really hurt too, so I couldn't sleep with my arm up over the pillow.

Hmm. Well I've had it and no sore arm yet but ten minutes after I had it I felt really nauseous and then (don't laugh) my bum cheek on the same side and my leg went alternately numb then sore

I do have a slight headache but then it's raining and it's not unusual for me to get headaches when there is a storm brewing.

WhoMoved - are you pregnant? Sorry, really nosy of me, but I came on this thread as I am currently contemplating the pros & cons of getting the vaccination, then I saw you on here <waves>

I had a very very sore arm for 3 days. The injection site remained slightly red for another day and then it settled down. I didn't get any fever or seats, but the nurse told me some people do experience it for a day or two.

Like others I had it in my non-dominant arm and would definitely advise it.

Am very err, bulbous actually (look more like 33 weeks than 23 weeks)! And I have a chest infection, so feeling rubbish. But apart from that, all's good

My arm hurt for 3 days. It's now a week later and it doesnt hurt but I still have a lump under the skin.

I didnt have any cold/flu symptoms at all

Thanks everyone - I am feeling much better today - still achey, and I can't raise my arm above shoulder height, so hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I had sore arm for 2 days, and backache that started later so only lasted about 24 hours altogether (although spread over 2 days). Also had a headache for a few hours on the 2nd day after. But the headache and backache might have been unrelated.... If you do get these though, a hot bath seemed to help the backache!

I was rough for about 48 hours, really bad pain in arm that spread across my chest and made me feel like I was having a heart attack.

But was fine after that and have been since

Had it this morning and no symptoms so far but it is only 10 hours I suppose. If you have had anti-D it is a breeze. My arm killed for days after that...

3 days sore arm; nothing else. Recommend you get it done on the side you don't normally sleep on.

Well I took some painkillers yesterday and was just aware of a dull ache in my arm and shoulder and this morning it feels like it's bruised (but it isn't). And I don't need painkillers, it's just sore. Slight fever, headache, nausea - all normal for a Sunday morning when my son has kept me up half the night

However, ladies, may I just point out the fact that it's sore is a good thing as it proves your body has reacted to the vaccination and you are making antibodies.

Another point - I had a confirmed diagnosis of swine flu previously and was advised I should still have the jab because of the emerging evidence of mutation. Now the fact that I've reacted to it hopefully shows that the broad spectrum effect is taking place. Were it just the common strain I would perhaps have only had a sore arm for an hour from the jab rather than the longer reaction I'm experiencing.

Sore arm, headache, generally feeling under the weather - all side effects gone within 48 hours of the jab.

Umm this is probably completely wrong but I'm breastfeeding and my DS has been really upset since I fed him after I had the jab

He's been really yowly. Could be teeth of course but quite unusual for him. Poor sod.

I had a sore arm for about 2-3 days. Other than that I was okay. However, I was in the throes of hyperemesis at the time and barely noticed anything. Had I been healthy at the time, I may well have felt like shit!
