An increase or decrease in movements needs to be checked.

I'm no expert but I remember exactly the same thing happening. At 31 weeks, I think the baby still has a good bit of wiggle room and I think they like to enjoy it before they get too big and drop down into the pelvis. I also found mine went bananas at about 32 or 33 weeks and the next time I went to the midwife she said it had turned (it had been breech before that.) and I think that's what all the kerfuffle was about! I also know that when I got a bit of adrenaline about something it went nuts too. Babies don't have consistent movements every day and although a decrease of movements can be a sign of a problem it can just as easily be because the baby is tired that day, or you haven't noticed as much movement because you have been busy. I had my first baby 4 months ago so I remember these concerns well. My friend is 32 weeks and she hasn't been able to sleep cos the LO is going crackers every night this week!
Make a MW appointment if you want a bit of reassurance but I'd hate you to be alarmed - I think, with all due respect Fabster, that message would have put the fear of God into me when I was pregnant!

I raised exactly the same question with my obstetrician and even asked whether the baby might be having a fit!
She said the more movement the better and said that she gets asked that a lot because people can't believe how much they move about.

Obviously I'm no expert, if you're worried definitely check with your GP or midwife but I have found this one (number 3) to be the craziest of them all!

I'm 32 weeks and I swear DD has been auditioning for Riverdance in there for about a fortnight now! She's always on the move.

Every checkup has said that she's fine. I think some babies are just wrigglers.

A decrease in movements to less than 10 a day should be checked AFAIK but lots of movements is a good sign. Make an appointment to get chacked by the midwife if you're worried though, that's what they're there for and it certainly can't hurt

Better the fear of God than a lost child.

ANY change should be checked.

Mine went from fine to fighting for his life in hours so I am always going to be cautious.
