I had them bad after giving birth to dd. The hospital gave me a condom of water which had been frozen which helped a bit, like an ice pack!! But I found when i got home I sat in a cool bath with lavender oil in. It worked for me!!

I would imagine there's a risk of an ice pack/cube sticking to the pile if you put it on directly. Eeek!

grated potato on the affected area - honestly it does soothe the pain. otherwise, see your gp about a pile ointment with steroids (not sure if you can have this while pg, but gp will know). steroid cream heaps more effective than anusol. piles after dd's birth were agony.

try anusol HC rather than plain Anusol. I had one during my pregnancy but shifted it in a week with this, plus two bowls of all bran every day and moist toilet tissue (TMI sorry)

i have the 'Active Birth' book by Janet Balatsas (i think) which has heaps of good pregnancy yoga for all sorts of pg probs... anyway, legs up the wal and doing pelvic floor exercises helps to pull in the piles. (had them with my second).

there's a product called a "valley cushion" you can get which is supposed to make it more comfortable when you are sitting down - you may be able to hire one - could you try contacting your local nct?
