hi everyone

im 40+4 weeks now and still waiting for baby to make his entrance. i have had no signs that things are gonna happen any time soon.
and am starting to worry about having to be induced as ive heard some horror stories and would obviously rather it started on its own.
i am also worried about baby coz ive heard quite a few stories of poeple losing their babies after about 10 days. my mw said they will leave me for 12 days after edd and im not sure if i should ask to be started sooner.
well just after some advice and opinions on induction really.

induction can work, and can be a good experience - it was in my case. IMO i would speak to midwife about your concerns and get that baby out asap.... i was 39 weeks when induced so i would push for the next few days if you could xxx

I was late with both of mine. Dd arrived 9 days late and I just avoided being induced. Ds was 10 days late and I was induced. It was a positive experience with no pain relief and I was home the same day. I think you need to speak to your midwife if you are worried. Good luck

hi hun
i went 14days over with ds and was induced. I remember being frustrated and also anxious about induction...however i found it worked well for me and i had ds 15days over with a labour of 90mins. Please try not to over worry hun. Maybe u could ask mw if they do cervical sweep to see if that helps. In our area they didnt do it but u never know. Good luck hun

I was also induced with my second baby and it wasn't a bad experience at all, labour was over very quickly and it was fine.

Speak to your midwife and ask to be very closely monitored, I'm sure she'll understand your concerns!

I was due to be induced at 41 wks but bubs arrived at 40 + 12 without induction
Is this your first?
Are you trying anything to help baby arrive?

I had an induction for both of my pregnancies. Ds1 was born 9 days late. The labour was long but as I had an epidural that worked it was also pain-free. Ds2 was induced early and I had a straightforward 6hr labour.

If you have concerns it will help to talk them through with your MW if they are approachable. Good luck.

Try not to worry, there is still time for the baby to arrive but if not, induction is not that bad! I had a very good experience of induction with my first baby and 10 mins after giving birth was saying 'that wasn't so bad, I could do that again'!! Honestly!

Have sex if poss - it worked for me with ds2! (sorry if TMI!)

I was induced with all three of my preganancies and each one was absolutely fine. I had my waters broken and then went straight into labour very very quickly. I've heard it hurts a bit more mostly because the big contractions come straightaway and you don't get much time to get used to them. Having said that I only needed gas and air and because it was quick I was not tired and could push those babies out with everything I had! Good Luck!
