Pregnancy

Enormous breasts

I was an F-cup before getting pregnant. Now I'm 17wks and bulging out of my H's. How much bigger are they likely to get? Should I buy bigger bras now, or wait for them to grow even more? I intend to breastfeed - will my nipples stay like saucers afterwards or will they shrink to their former state? I am a bit scared of how huge they are.

I embrace the changes in my body that will eventually nourish my child, but at the same time can't help missing my lovely pre-pregnancy shape.

Can you please reassure me that one day my breasts will be back to normal?

Would love to reassure you, but mine went up a cup size (to an E though - not so bad ) and never went back.

Mine went up two cup sizes and down two, but to be fair I am on the opposite end of the size scale to you

Nipples utterly back to normal though

arrgh... mine have gone from a DD to an FF or G cup so far and I'm 34 weeks... I presumed that after breast feeding for a while my breasts would get smaller.. I was really looking forward to that.. but you say they don't?

Have similarly gone from a D to an FF, as I did the last time I was pg - but last time, when I lost all my baby weight, I went back down to a D. Everyone's different, obviously, but I thought my experience might cheer up mrswee ...

Mine went from B to F in the first trimester, currently nearly 34 weeks, and growth stagnated since reaching F.

Completely boggled at how fast they grew, immensely relieved that they didn't continue apace!

Fingers very much crossed that they only go up 1 cupsize max more when BF (can you even get 32G?!) and I get my nice pert, nearly flat, chest again one day!

Erm, ok I now feel a bit like a freak, but I've gone from a B to an H, and the H is already starting to get on the small side, I'm trying to hold off getting any new bras until I'm closer to the due date, currently 31 weeks.

Hiya

I went from a 36F at the start to a 36H at 24weeks to a marvellous 36K feeding bras

Now DD is a year I am down to a 36G

Calypso yes you can cos that is what i'm on now (at 29 wks)

Started at 28F, went to 30FF, now at 32G & beleive they are still growing...

slightly scarily when you get a nursing bra apparetnly they tell you to put your fist in the cup as this is how much bigger they will get when the milk comes...

But friends with babies say enjoy it now cos they'll disappear after you stop breastfeeding, & will never be the same as pre-pregnancy

have already spent at least £150 on bras & will probably need to spend more

I have gone from a 36B to 34E (at 15 weeks). I am now 20 weeks and am starting to bust out of the 'E's. As I am barely showing and having lived with fried eggs for most of my life - I am absolutely delighted and never want them to go away!!!!

I went from a 36DD to a 40F by about 25 weeks.

Haven't had any growth since (30 weeks), so you may get 'lucky'.

Before DS1 I was a 30FF and went to a 34G during pregnany and a 32J afterwards whilst feeding. My midwife got sick of me asking about my boobs and what would happen to them after I stopped feeding. They went back to a 30G afterwards about 6 weeks after I stopped feeding.

For DS2 boobs did the same thing during pregnancy but slightly smnaller during feeding and back to 30G again afterwards. They were just generally much less painful and feeding much easier second time round cos they knew what they were doing.

Now 7 weeks pregs with DC3 and they haven't changed at all yet - maybe they've just given up. Hubby has certainly given up on them cos they've been a bit prone to leak ever since DS1 if they're squeezed to hard (sorry TMI but been through labour twice so no shame). They're certainly not as perky as they were but I honestly haven't got the time to care as much about it as I did. I can't tell when I've got a good bra on - the sagging under my eyes from 5.30am starts is much more visible.

PS - I know they say no wires but in both pregnancies I wore underwired until about 38 weeks (couldn't cope with work in a non wired bra). Never got mastitis and the ladies at Bravissimo told me that as long as the bra fits well, the no wire thing is a myth.

get a couple of comfy bras to support the status quo.

it will probably change after birth - but it's worth being comfortable in the here and now.

also, having really huge boobs can make Breastfeeding harder to establish - think getting a kitten to mouth a football. Get a couple of phone numbers to call in case of difficulty latching before you give birth - preferably of people who can come and see you in the flesh (hospital BF consultant? local MNer?) there's always Mumsnet of course, there are a few really good advisors here.

I hope you don't mind me giving unasked for advice but i wish someone had suggested that to me before my first!

i now have bras in every size from 32d to 34GG - depending on fatness/ stage of pg/ time of day - i know they'll all be useful again (aside from maybe the smallest)

yes I had total latch on issue with DS1 cos they were rock solid when milk came in. I has to express and bottle feed him it for three weeks before he actually learnt to latch on - hardest thing I have ever done but so worth persisting! All midwives were very disparaging and said he would never learn to latch on after bottle but they we wrong.

The chilled savoy cabbage leaves in bra trick when milk came in really did work.

No issues with DS2 as never got engorged - boobs just went into autodrive.

dont worry mama. With my first i started as a 30gg and went up to a 32-34HH and sometimes a j at the end and breast feeding, however they went to a 30f to ff after id stopped a few months. This time tho, im already busting out of last times nursing bras and im only 3o weeks ( twins this time tho :Z) Get yourself to bravissimo andbuy a bra with a little room, whatever u feel comfy in,
