Pregnancy

5 weeks pregnant today and my morning sickness seems to have gone

I hope I am over worrying as usual, but I'd appreciate other views.

I found out a week ago I was 4 weeks pregnant, after about 3 days of feeling sick, and a whole host of other symptoms and two positive BFPs last Sunday.

The last 3 days however, my sickness has just stopped. Is this normal? I'm still shattered, very sensitive sense of smell, sensitive breasts and hungry all of the time. But it's worrying me my nausea has just stopped and so early as well.

Any similar experiences?

Thanks

PS I haven't had any bleeding, but I do keep getting cramps, which I'm putting down to stretching.

I think that most morning sickness starts later than 5 weeks. Perhaps you had a bug last week which was causing the sickness.

When i was first pg i had lots of cramps and felt very sick and tired. Then it all went away (apart from the tiredness which lasted about 3 months). I had the odd morning where i felt a bit queasy, but a ginger biscuit sorted it. Dd is now 5!

I hope so Littlefish, but I'm sure it was morning sickness, it felt so similar to when I was pregnant with ds.
I keep getting 'twinges', not really pains, but like slightly sharp cramps.
Ridiculous that I want to feel sick. This time, I just feel more vulnerable for some reason (I don't know why).
I need to stop looking on Internet!

I had sickness from week 2, then at week 5, i had nothing for 2 weeks. then i started again really really badly at about 7 weeks, so badly I am now medicated at 23 weeks for hyperemesis!

In my last pregnancy I felt quite sick before I got my BFP, but then felt absolutely 'normal' for just over a week. I was so worried and spent the time panicking that it was over before it really got started... At 5 1/2 weeks my MS kicked in big time, so don't start panicking yet!

Your other symptoms sound promising, so just see what happens... Is this your first pregnancy?

Good luck, and try to stay calm x

I had only 2 weeks of MS with DS1. That went away and just left me with no apetite and tiredness etc. It can happen. I was a bit further along than you though. About 7 or 8 weeks.

I had MS longer with DS2 but it would come and go. Some days good, some days bad. You don't have to have it 24/7.

Hope you are OK though.

That's so reassuring Pavlov, thank you (in the nicest possible way, but I'm sorry you are suffering so badly with sickness, that must make every day very long and hard).

DH keeps telling me to stop worrying and what will be will be. These early weeks are so worrying.

monkeybumsmum - this is my second pregnancy, have ds fast asleep in the room next door! But I do sound like someone who hasn't been through this before.
Last time I was so positive about everything and I know more now I guess. Plus I work part-time now, so have more 'thinking time' on my hands .
Thanks so much for posting. It was more just the sudden stop of it that's worried me, but there's no reason for me to think anything of it. And last time I had it bad, constantly from weeks 6-13, every day.
Anyhow, thanks for posting

It has been horrendous yes, but I have reassured myself all through that the sickness is a good thing , and it has almost passed now, with the help of the medication!

Hopefully, it will not return for you, with a positive outcome still. The fact that your other symptoms are still present is a good sign, I am sure its all going to go smoothly.

For some reason, I felt more vulnerable this time too, but then I also found out earlier this time than with DD, I think more time in my mind for things to not work out, longer to the '12 week' mark. I did not know I was pg until 6wks then, so I may have even had a 'stomach bug' at 3/4wks and not paid any attention to it. But this time, I have paid more attention to every twinge, pain, spotting (had a little) than I did last time.

But, as evidenced by the way he refused to have his heartbeat monitored this week by midwife through fierce kicks everytime she tried to find it, he is doing just fine!

Drlove - my mum said yesterday how much I'm showing now (honestly, I'm so bloated, I know it's not baby but my trousers are getting tight and I'm wearing bras that I wore pre-DS when I was more endowed than I am now!) that she joked it could be twins!

It was the inital symptons that made me take a test and after that I NEVER got sick - 5 weeks onwards? Apart from time when i had some red wine.....Apart from tiredness, it was a doddle til nearly the end....

I didn't mean that you sounded like a first timer Was just wondering what sickness (if any) you've had in other pregnancies. (Not that that's necessarily an indicator of how subsequent pregnancies will go though.)

How early did you find out with ds that you were pg? I didn't find out until 5 weeks with my ds, so I wonder if maybe I was more in tune with my body for the next two pregnancies, and so realised that I was actually feeling sick pretty early on. I think I might've had that with ds, and just not noticed it, or put it down to something else. With him the ms started at 6 weeks exactly, but I can remember not being able to eat anything the weekend I found out, and then eating loads for the next few days. Maybe it's quite common to have a bit of sickness early on, and for it to then go away for a while?

Monkeybumsmum - that's cool, even when I re-read my op, I thought what am I worrying about!
With DS I found out at 4 weeks too. It may also be that I'm eating more now and maybe that's keeping it a bit more under control. I do still have bigger boobs, the heightened sense of smell, spots on nipples (sorry tmi ), bloated and a bit of an aching back and insane tiredness. I need to stop worrying and stressing. Everyone around me is having difficulty TTC / undergoing IVF and it's stressing me out having to tell them all in a few weeks, knowing it will upset them. Anyway, another thread!
