Tip of the day

Never ask a child IF they need the loo... moodlum

Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

iron levels???

(5 Posts)
according to the print out from my last blood test results (at 28 weeks) the desirable range is 11.5 - 15.5, so 12.7 is absolutely fine

The midwife told me a drop of 2 mg is normal during pregnancy in which case you would still be well above the 10 (or 10.5 where I am, perhaps this is regional).

They are brilliant, if they dip below 10 your GP may prescribe iron tablets but eating an iron rich diet is the best prevention. All iron levels drop to a certain extent in pregnancy due to the increased volume of blood circulating in the body and this is called 'physiological anaemia' but most trusts take some blood again at 28 and 34 weeks to check that this process has levelled off.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
