35 weeks and continuous low-level period-type pains

(12 Posts)
I also have a bit of lower backache (and some hip soreness) but that doesn't feel like period-type pains. The pain is where my uterus would normally only be if I wasn't pg and has been fairly constant since yesterday lunchtime.

It's a dull and noticeable continuous ache but not very painful. I lay down a lot yesterday evening but it's still there.

I'll give the midwife team a ring soon but just wondering if anyone else had this at this stage. I don't remember it with DS but I am bigger this time.

Hi

I have had exactly the same the last few days 34 weeks!!! Have an oblique lying DD2. Comes and goes, bit def like low level period cramps. Feel so much better reading this!

Good Luck everyone smile
I didnt get anything like this first time round and non of the midwives seemed to know what it was either!
The good news is that they did a quick scan and both babies are now head down lol
Feel much better thanks ready, glad all is well with you too. This must be fairly common but I've never read aboit it. There's still something going on but movement is good again and with no show and the cervix shut, all looks OK so far. Weird this isn't really mentioned anywhere.
Hi Leningrad,
How are you feeling today? I ended up going to hospital last night as the period pains just wouldnt go off and I kept feeling like I needed to keep weeing and was worried about an infection.

They monitored me and like you everything was fine with the babies and movement is great. I dont have an infection so they are not sure what is causing it!!

I am hoping that is doesnt start again today!

Hope things inprove for you too
I think this baby has turned into a position I can only describe as oblique, it's certainly not transverse exactly but there are bumps and lumps and more spacious bits in all sorts of places. Glad I've got another scan at 36 weeks.

Good thing is it is very responsive to my feeling around to try and work out where it is even though it has quietened down a bit in general. Heart rate was good and consistent on the trace, even though movement was low, so have to assume all is well for now.

Had quite a low-key day yesterday; hip feels better now and I don't feel as crampy. If I can just cure this late-pregnancy insomnia, I'll be sorted!
Thanks for the replies. Still got the low level cramp but cervix is closed and nothing else to indicate early labour so this is probably something that will come and go. No infections but they took a swab to check.

Just one of those things I guess but glad I got it checked. They said to go back if it develops and they'd admit me for 48 hours by which time if labour is going to start it will, or it isn't going to and I'd be able to leave. Presume they'd give me steroids if this happens just in case but so far just waiting and seeing.

Baby isn't really low enough for it to be pressure from the head, was cephalic and they think it still is but they are all finding it difficult to tell. Have another scan at 36 weeks anyway so will know then.

Got a bloomin' painful left hip which has developed over the last few days too!
I am 32 weeks and getting this too , have no idea what it is but not liking it!!
What have the hospital said?

Hi LeninGrad
Just wanted to reply that I have this since about 35, am now 37, but intermittently. i think it's the body preparing. Is it your first or subsequent? Do you know the position of the baby?
Hope you're doing ok.
On trace, baby very quiet, no contractions showing but crampy feelings getting stronger and spreading around back. Maybe just pressure from the baby's head?
They've advised me to go in to our the unit to be checked. Will check on here later to see if anyone else has had this.
