Tip of the day

Never ask a child IF they need the loo... moodlum

Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

Weightloss!

(5 Posts)
I think the query about your weight is sound - if you were slim/thin already then it would be more worrying.

The research I have seen shows that you need to be really restricting your diet over much of your pregnancy to damage the baby or greatly effect their weight - they are very efficient parasites and take most ofd the nutrients they need even if you are not eating much!

That said, obviously you now know how much you have lost so you can focus on eating little and often and getting a good mixture of carbs/protein and good fat down you.
Hey there. I know how your feeling. I have lost 2 stone 3lbs since i was 15 weeks. Im 30+2 now. Spoke to midwife n she said baby is right size etc so not to worry but to keep an eye on it. I think its my obsession for fruit veg n salad. Its a good thing cos i was pretty large at 15 stone n only 5ft 3 but now im getting there. 2 years of tryin to loose weight n now im preg its droppin off me without trying! But as mw said baby is nice n healthy so its fine!

Ranitidine - it's a mild way of restricting your stomach acid. Glad it's working.

This is a bit of a personal question, but what's your weight like (don't worry, I'm not one of those weight-obsessed types that have popped up on MN recently, I'm just trying to be practical). If you're already pretty skinny, I'd worry more than if you have half a stone or so in hand, iyswim.

I've struggled with acid indigestion for years - so know that building up your weight can be difficult without triggering an attack. Don't eat lots of fatty foods in one go, don't eat big portions of carbohydrates, but you do need to bulk up so... I'd suggest medium-sized and often. And keep the carb level up, without going overboard. If you normally have a small lunch, make lunch a main-sized meal as well as dinner? Green leafy veg are naturally alkaline, so having those as part of the "mix" of your meal can be very helpful.

I weighed myself yesterday and I have lost almost half a stone hmm I am currently 31 wks. I recently have had some really bad 'morning' sickness and heartburn and have completely lost my appetite! i saw my GP 2 wks ago and she gave me rinatadine (?) which has helped somewhat with the heartburn.

I'm seeing my mw tues but in the meantime does anyone have any tips and also put my mind at rest a little, I'm sure weightloss in pg isn't very good

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
