It is whippy icecream which has a risk of listeria which carries a arisk of harm to foetus.

Haagan daas is fine.

Not sure ice cream has egg yolks in does it?

Only soft serve ice cream is not allowed. Any commercial ice cream, like hagen daaz is pasteurized and fine.

well Im not sure on current advice but on think I would have made it through either of my pregancies without ben and jerrys. Am sure its fine as it is pasturised.

Mass produced stuff will be made with pastuerised, dehydrated eggs, if there are any in it at all. Most have vegetable oil, stabilisers, etc instead.

Mr Whippy should be avoided though as there is a tiny risk of food poisoning due to the machines. I have operated one and tbh, you wouldn't want one if you saw the mess of them.

So, go ahead and enjoy your ice cream! You can definitely justiy the calories while you oare pg, so eat with joy.

You're having a giraffe! A whole summer without a Mr Whippy 99 - not possible!

I'll just pretend that I didn't read this thread and carry on in blind ignorance .

You're not supposed to eat ice cream from vans whilst pg (I think, listeria) but if you buy something like tescos ordinary vanilla icecream, that's fine. Get a cone, stick some tescos icecream in with a flake!

Seriously, noone should eat Mr Whippy ice cream. The machines are very hard to clean well... (yuk)

just as long as its not from the ice cream man then it's fine.

i survived on morrissons chocolate brownie ice cream when i was pg with dd last summer.

How about Haagan Das from a Haagan Das stall by the seaside, where they scoop large quantities of blueberry and cream cheesecake ice cream into an italian chocolate coated cone?

Pleeeeease tell me these are ok? Seeing as they are not mister whippy?

Icecream vans come straight from heaven with their lovely cheap crunchy cones, angel-made raspberry ripple, and delicious flakes broken off from Jesus's own giant God flake.

There is no way they are bad for you and my unborn baby will get as much of this wonderful sustenance as I can possible fit into me this summer.

tis only the whippy ice-cream you are not allowed, out of the machines, due to inability to clean properly (of at all, going on what it was like in the cafe I worked in as a teen during the summer season).

seriously, !

scoopy iceacream is fine

Stall/van ice cream is fine afaik.

But for the love of God, never eat a Mr Whippy.

bigTillyMint - can you tell that this is my second? Also liking your name a lot!

Winjy - some sensible advice here, especially at the bottom where it lists food that you think you might have to avoid but don't really.

I'm afraid that the only things that I avoid are pate (high vit A) and stuff like brie and blue cheese. I love a poached egg and I still eat prawns and other seafood if I'm cooking them myself at home, although not in restaurants I've not been to before (makes it sound like I have a social life ). I also have a glass of wine or half a pint of real ale now and then and don't feel guilty. You find your own balance, one that you're comfy with.

I can't bear the thought of a Mr Whippy, mainly as my brother used to refer to a certain consitency of dog turd as such [boak]

Oh....DH just said that means I can't have any more McDonalds thickshakes - I hate mcdonalds, but they are the other only thing I have been able to keep down during a period of nothing else staying. They are designed for pg women and no-one else...

Mr. Whippy's first name is Gabriel.

In fact, if you're being proper he is correctly addressed as Archangel Whippy.

He can play the tune from Match of the Day on his harp to let the children know that the manna icecream has arrived.
