Hi,

well I'm not sure whether you'll find this stops pretty soon and is just the result of the bug you had - but what I do know, is that lots of people suffer from diarrhoea during their first trimester, so it probably isn't too unusual.

It could be a reaction to the higher levels of progesterone, which will be at roughly their peak at the moment and reduce after about 12/13 weeks.

Also I doubt it is harming the baby at all, so try to stop worrying.

Are you managing to keep drinking?
Also perhaps a probiotic might help your tummy settle down, some actimel or acidophilus perhaps.

I had diarreah every day for the last 3 months of my first pregnancy. I noticed if I ate of drank anything sweet it would be worse. Im now 5.5 weeks pregnant and all day yesterday until 2am this morning I had both diarreah and vomiting. Thank god my sons potty was near by as i was sitting on the loo being sick in his potty - nice! It is hell isn't it, my mum has taken my 2yr old yesterday and today but has to work tomorrow and im praying it doens't start up again, I couldn't care for him properly hugging the loo all day, I thought I was going to die! My friend is a nutritionist and thinks it is yeast in the gut (thrush) fed by pregnany hormones so avoid sugar, even fruit when things are bad. Even if it's a bug it won't harm the baby according to my doc. I hope you get better soon. x

1st, I'm 12 weeks and have had the same issues from the beginning...then this past week the opposite, until early on this morning, back to running again!! I guess we're all different, hang in there...look forward to the result of all this mess!

Hi,
It turned out I had a stomach bug this time. DH developed it right after me but was no where near as bad. I guess because I am PG my body just reacted badly to it. Im not worried though as ive heard loads of times that stomach bugs don't matter in pregnancy unless you just can't get hydrated over a long period of time. Im sooooo glad it's not morning sickness, Id have had to sell my DS on e-bey if that was to continue!!
