One stone weight gain at 15 weeks!

That's me. Oh god...One stone...at 15 weeks.

Feel a bit panicked. Has anyone else put on this much weight so early. Any chance I won't end up putting on 4 stone or something.

I had really really awful morning sickness only alleviated by constant eating of crap. Hope I can turn it around. I look really huge and bulky but not pregnant yet.

I did, sorry and I put on over 4 stone with each pg.
But I do know some of my friends put a lot on in early pg then slowed right down.

Jeez, really. Are you very thin normally?
How did you feel?

Charliegal, I think I've put on this much, if not more - I'm 15 weeks too.
Haven't been sick, but have a HUGE appetite. I was this the same with my first pregnancy.
I haven;t dared to weigh myself but know I have put on loads of weight, although I don't look pregnant yet. I just look fat and feel very frumpy; can't wait to start showing.
I thought I would have looked pg by this stage, partic as this is my second pregnancy. Anyone else similiar?

Second time for me too. Hoping that when I start showing it will overshadow the general weight gain, sausage legs etc.

Keep reading that weight gain of about 5 lbs is to be expected.

Won't weigh myself again, too scared.

I'm there. too scared to weigh myself but have put on a lot!! and only 11wks.
Really want to curb it before it goes too far.
A friend even felt the need to remind me that I got HUGE last time and remember how long it took you to lose it!!!
Arghhhh it's all too much....

Yes, I would lol at sausage legs myself, if they weren't my own, spreading across the chair.

Am hoping now I don't feel as sick I will can the viennese fingers and crisps etc and start eating as a pregnant lady should eat (melon, brown rice).

Yeah, I'd jus lost the weight from first time around too.

Means I will be 40 next time I am my normal size again.

I never got back to my 'normal' size after DS (he's now two). It was always on the back of my mind that I wanted another baby, so why bother?

The bit I hate most about my body is my tummy; it has NEVER been flat,as far back as I can remember and no matter how slim I have been in the past. And it's worse than ever now?
I really cringe when the midwife touches it and it wobbles. Bleurgh!

This happened to me in my first pregnancy. I gained a stone in the first trimester and five stone overall!! Like the OP I had to eat constantly to stop the nausea.

The good news is that it came off. I lost 3 stone in labour and by the time DD was 8 months I was a stone under my pre-pregnancy weight and a size 10/12. Strangely I am finding it much hardes to lose the weight from my second pregnancy even though I put on less than 3 stone and the baby weighed 10.5lbs.

Charliegal, sorry just back from school run.

No, I am far from thin! With DS1 it was becuase I put my feet up, didn't exercise and ate whatever I wanted. With DS2 it was partly due to vastness of baby and just bad luck, I ate very healthily and swam 3 times a week, plus had active toddler.
It all came off though, so no matter.

I don't usually weigh myself but had the shock of my life when I did recently. Am 28 weeks ish but have been told I look ready to give birth!

I have, to be honest, been eating far more than recommended 300 calories (?) extra though. Oohps. I'm just soooooo peckish all the time

I am 37+5 and first pregnancy. I put on a stone in the first 12 weeks and expected to balloon...however I have only put on one more stone since then, so you may find it evens out over the time. I'm eating exactly the same as I was then and haven't deprived myself of cake/chocolate if I wanted/needed them!

Don't worry too much - at my 28 week scan I weighed 83 kilos (an increase of 2 stone from what I started pregnancy at, 70 kilos) but today at a 37 week scan I only weighed 81 kilos) so I have actually lost a little bit in the last weeks, and certainly have not maintained the rapid rate of growth of the first and second trimesters.

My baby has been bang on average measurements throughout so I seem to have lost weight even though she has been growing normally (i.e. rapidly) in the third trimester - I think this is because you lose appetite and just can't eat much because your stomach is squashed small!

You won't necessarily maintain the same rate of growth throughout. I have just eaten what I fancy throughout the pregnancy - certainly in the second trimester I was so starving I was on three meals and three mid-meal snacks (ie sandwiches!) a day!

I very much saw my first pg as an excuse to sit back and indulge in all the foods that I didn't normally allow myself on a regular basis.
So for lunch, instead of a salad, I had a Coronation Chicken baguette from Pret a Manger everyday. I ate crisps, cheese and chocolate like my life depended on it.
So that is why I gained so much weight!
In my 2nd pg, I had a 10lb 11oz baby and my MW reckoned that I retained an awful lot of water, I did get very puffy and lost that within a week. After about 8weeks postpartum I only had 1.5stone to lose after gaining 4.5stone.

it is amazing how you feel a sudden licence to scoff absolutely everything you fancy.

I'd put on a stone by then too and am now 7 months and have put on 2 stone in total.

So far ... But what the hell, I'm not going to diet whilst I'm pg and I'm not eating loads of crap so I shall just have to grin and bear it!

I too usually put on alot of weight in the first 5 months and then not much after. I'm on average a size 12 when not pregnant. I remember someone seeing me at 18 weeks and then at 36 weeks and remarking how I'd lost weight. That was my 3rd pregnancy.

I'm pregnant with my 4th and although I know my weight gain at present is normal for me I still feel panicked. Only 24 weeks to go. I won't look much better for at least another year after that. It's a good thing I love my children or I might feel resentful lol!!!

I know, it seems such a stupid thing to worry about.

Am just sensitive about people making comments and as we know, once you are pregnant, it's open season.

I am only 12 weeks and already showing, people are telling me, no so tackfully, that MOST people don't show at this stage.

Having just read your discussion title I thought I would weight myself and have put on about 9lbs which is quite scary but I can't seem to stop eating!

Any suggestions anyone?

I'd put on a stone by my booking appopint at 9.5wks!! I wasn't even eating due to MS so MW said it was probably fluid. My last PG, I carried a lot of fluid so fingers crossed. I'm 31 wks now and put on just over 2 n half stone so far so mot too bad.
