Pregnancy

browny blood / discharge - 7 weeks and panicking!

Hi wise and wonderful mumsnetters,

I am having a bit of a panic. I am 7 weeks pregnant. Last week I had an early scan (history of missed miscarriages) and there was a lovely little squiggly thing in there with a heratbeat. All seemed good with the world.

On Saturday I went to the toilet, and noticed brown gunky stuff on my knickers. It was then there whenever I wiped for the rest of the morning. It cleared around lunchtime, and I haven't had it since, however, I'm now really worried.

I also felt weird pains / sensations all day Sat, and a little today. Nothing major, but definitely different to how I have been feeling the rest of the time.

Help! Is this all bad? I am going to ring my midwife tomorrow and try and get an early scan- but should I be very worried?

You poor thing. I know how worried you must be. I had 5 miscarriages and 3 babies and I had the brown staining with all of my miscarrriages and all of my healthy pregnancies - all at about 7/8 weeks. No help to you at all then am I? Only to say that this is not the end of the world and on 3 occasions I was in the same situation as you, went for an extra scan and all was well. Fingers crosssed for you my loveXXXX

i have had this with all 3 of my pregnancies and gone on to have 3 healthy babies :D

it's very common. it's to do with leftover blood from implantation I believe, that's why it's brown (because it's old blood)

Poor you- so worrying, I know. I've had early brown discharge (no pain) in both my pregnancies and been fine both times- I'm now 25 weeks pregnant. Have you got a walk in early pregnancy unit at your local hospital?

I had it every day from week 8 to week 10 and then it just stopped ( I am now 18 weeks). Apparently it is absolutely normal as long as you don't have strong pain or fresh blood. I was really worried as well by the way, I dreaded going to the toilet!

fwiw i think you'll be ok. it wouldn't have stopped otherwise and would ahve got redder and redder (which is what happened to me). you also have a heartbeat which means the likelihood of miscarriage is massively reduced.

really really think you'll be ok.

I had the same (brown discharge/mild cramping pains) at 7 weeks, I was booked in for early pregnancy scan (thought I was 6 weeks b4 the scan, but told 7wks+4 from measurements). All was okay and saw baby's heartbeat. Happened again at 11 weeks so phoned MW who said to pop to A&E just to check. I was distraught and the hospital were really good, gave me another scan and everything was fine. Baby even waved at me .

I'm now 25 weeks and baby is constantly moving.

I do hope everything will be okay for you too, as you said best to give MW call in morning just to settle your mind.

xx

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all the supportive messages. I'm feeling alot more positive today. I spoke to my midwife first thing, and she's booked me in for a scan on Wednesday (the earliest they can do). It's not ideal, but I'm just glad to have a scan at all really, as it is very vry hard to be seen in my county.

The sonographer said I had a pretty big cyst on my ovary when I was scanned last week. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with things?

Hi everyone,

I went for my scan today and everything is fine... yippee! I am starting to actually think that I may even have a baby at the end of this pregnancy!

Anyway - thanks for your help!

So pleased everything okay.

As mentioned before I'm 25 weeks, and just come back from hospital as had another small bleed (again only slight and brown in colour). I did mention on the phone that baby was happily kicking away, but MW wanted to check me over.

Everything is okay but I thought I might mention this to help as these things happen and not uncommon but let's hope no more now until labour day
