hip pain at night - any advice?

I am 22 weeks and really suffering at night from hip pain. the only way i can get rid of it is to get up and hobble around until it wears off. I am sleeping with various pillows but this is now getting worse. Is there anything i can do about it? I remember getting it later on with dd but not this early. should i mention it at the drs or just grin and bear it?

Sounds like SPD. Tell GP or MW and get a referral to a physio. No reason to suffer!

oh bum, do you think so? I thought that would hurt me during the day too.

I have had SPD through both my pregnancies - best advice I had from a physio for night-time was to sleep on top of a folded duvet. Makes things a bit more comfortable. Good luck

Me too - I'm 29 wks and had it with last PG too. I just have to turn over evey couple of hors. I'm afraid for me last time it only got worse and I ended up only managing to stay in bed for about 4 hours then I would get up and go and sitin an armchair downsatirs. The arms suppport...well your arms and a few cushions and I used to sleep propped up with my feel up on a foot stool. Found it easier than being in bed becuase you don't slip down as much. Try a pillow under your hips as well as one between your legs.

I sympathise x

I had terrible SPD in my last pregnancy but have seen an Osteopath this time and I can't recommend it enough. I am now 29 weeks and the twinges are only just starting (I was on crutches by this stage last time)
Pillows etc do help. I had about 6 before I was comfy last time.

thanks for your messages. Is an osteopath similar to a chiropractor? have been to one of those after previous pg and it really helped.I'm like you, gillyan, can manage 2 hours tops before i have to turn and then get up and walk around a bit. doesnt help that dd has been up for several hours every night this week Have an appt in 2 weeks, may mention it then.

recommend sleeping on a duvet - I slept on 4 layers of duvet in the end with a pillow between knees,

I belive they are very similar yes. I have never used a Chiropractor but from the threads on SPD on here they appear to be effective too.
