Believe the current guidance is that peanuts are fine. And even previous guidance only recommended avoidance if you or DP or close family members have a history of atopic conditions like asthma/ eczema. Don't think there's any need to worry!

When MN had the allergy expert thread, one of the questions was about the whole eating peanuts in pregnancy and he said there was no evidence either way. That's what my dd's specialist told us too.

Mmmm traker bars yum. I ate a grand total of 4 yesterday. In my defense I was at the hospital all day with DH who had injured himself doing the garden. I am 25+5 and TBH I have not really worried about peanuts so much in this pg.

Mmmmm peanut butter. Had bad cravings for pb on toast last pregnancy, so had quite a lot, and its about the only thing that DD is NOT allergic to! I second JuwEggsm, I think the advice has changed to say its fine. A little of what you fancy and all that....

It makes no sense to me to avoid peanuts when pregnant to avoid allergies - I would always have though the opposite would be true (eg. To get de-senstitise yourself for hayfever you should eat honey made from bees kept locally to you - so you desensitise from the pollen)..

Plus the FSA website says this:

There have been some studies published recently that question whether women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid peanuts and peanut products, because it may in fact increase the risk of your baby developing a peanut allergy. The Agency is carrying out a thorough review of all the research that has been done on this subject and will use this to decide whether our advice needs to be updated.

which is as clear as mud! cos the paragraph above says to avoid peanuts...

So I think you'll be fine (in my non-expert by scientific opinion)

Allergies are funny things. I have eczema and allergies to different shimmery makeups. DD (aged 3) developed a rash not long ago and I felt terribly guilty that I'd given her a food allergy by eating prawns and peanuts while pregnant.

However, when I stopped panicking I realised that the initial elbow and behind-knee detergent irritation ONLY turned into leg/belly/arm/chest hives AFTER bathing her in Oilatum!

I'm really hitting the peanut butter this time, couldn't stop if I tried.
