Am I mad to resit driving test at 34+3?

Failed yesterday, only 5 minors but then messed up a bay park back at the test centre in the last 30 seconds

Can't get another test date for a while, and I'll be over 34 weeks by then.

Would be lovely to hear from anyone:
a) who's passed this late in their pregnancy b) those of you who managed to pass some time after having a new baby.

Goodness, I wish I'd got all of this out of the way when I was 18!

hmm, woundering what happpens if you said half way through test "ohh a little twinge" ohh ohh another little twinge, how far away from the hospital are we?"

Do you think examiner would pass you quick and get you off to hospital?

Comiserations on failing

I was in a similar position having failed a test whilst preg I opted to book one in before baby was born and sat my 3rd test at 38 weeks pregnant Meant I got out of doing an emergancy stop!

I still failed though (went through a red light)and passed on my 5th attepmt when said baby was 4 years old!!

I think it is worth a try though, believe me, I could not even think about driving lessons when my ds was a tiny baby.

i passed mine at 12 weeks so no relevance there lol=p

im 35+5weeks now and can hardly drive my car its so uncomfy i refuse to do long journeys as i cant turn properly - to check blind spot and look out rear window - and takes a good few minutes to get in the bloody thing im that uncomfy lol

how far gone are you now? how bigs your bump?

saying that thought mines not huge im just uncomfortable with it. i was fine a week ago its only just got so akward, so hard to say for you, its not impossible though as DN said she did it at 38..

cant you just keep checking everyday for cancellations and try and get in soon as?

I passed my test in late pregnancy. I failed at 10 weeks, 26 weeks and passed at 32+ weeks, 3 weeks before baby was born!

I didnt have to do emergency stop - very good way of geting out of it.

Theres no reason why you cant do it and you will be grateful for the lisence when baby is here.

Thanks everyone! I'm nearly 30 weeks now, bump not too big. I'm tall and scrawny slim apart from bump but another month might take its toll! I spotted a man on the way to work with a bigger tum than mine, and thought "if he can fit behind the wheel..."!

You won't hav eto do emerg stop and you can take your seatbelt off to reverse - it is very difficult to twist round to see otherwise.

Good luck!

I passed at 39 weeks !!

My last lessons and the test I did notice that both instructors kept me circling the local hospital for large portions ofthe exam

When I told my regular instructor he said 'thank fuck for that I have been having heart failure every time we do an emergency stop.....'

It was 12 years ago though so not sure if they will still test that late. I had to pass as I needed to start driving my older boy to school a few weeks after DS2 was born

Thanks Dr Northerner! And well done pagwatch! over the hospital route! Feel so silly for failing it at the last hurdle after doing so well in the rest of the test

Same here. I am a very good driver, my DI used to say so and he said I was more like a man and that i just ahd bad habbits as I was driving with my dad all the time.

I failed because the examiner didnt like my Instructor.

Good luck!

I had booked my test but then cancelled it as i was 37 weeks and didnt wanted to take any stress. Also i felt that i need to play very safe for the baby as i am still a learner and what if Godforbid i made some serious mistake. But thats me...

I have booked another one when baby will be 2 months so i hope i will be able to do that.

I'd leave it till after you've given birth. My driving since being pg has completely gone to pot anyway.

I'd do it! I cancelled mine at 32 weeks as I thought I'd be too big/ rubbish, but then didn't get a chance to take it again for months and months as was so busy with teh baby, so had to take the bus everywhere with small baby and pram. Get it over with!

Thanks. I'm going to go for it, as I got so close the other day. Just need to maintain the general driving and get my reversing sorted! DH is taking me out driving for half an hour in the evenings just to keep things ticking over, and we'll do a bit more at the weekends. The theory is I shouldn't get exhausted this way. Getting nervous again just thinking about it but it will hopefully be worth it!
