Urine test results show high leukocytes - Is this a UTI?

I'm 12 weeks pg and visited my doctor on the 10th of this month, following major stress incontinence(totally lost control of my bladder while whilst beding over double with morning sickness and coughing at same time.Doctor wanted to rule out UTI so I gave a sample.

I've just had a letter through from my surgery asking me to repeat the test asap. Rang them and they said that the test indicated high leukocytes. Could this be a UTI or something to do with the infected tooth I am being treated for? I'm assuming treatment would be a course of antibiotics?

TIA

My understanding is that leukocytes are white blood cells. A high number means you have an infection. My guess is a UTI but I am not medical expert. So yes, I imagine antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks chaya. Had my mw appointment on onday and they tested a sample as well but all was fine there. Maybe it's worked its way out of my system.

I had raised leukocytes, and they did a culture but found nothing, so obviously just a mild infection that cleared itself up.

I'm glad they did the full culture though, as I suppose my all-clear means I don't have GBS.

Thanks Hawkmoth. I think it might have sorted itself out as the midwives said all clear when they did the urine tests on Monday-I thought they say there and then if anything wrong.

Have had a look at pathology request form that came with the letter and its reuested c & s which seems to be protein so not sure what is being looked for now. Will keep on with the water and cranberry juice tho
