Pre-eclampsia anybody got it in their 2nd+ pregnancy and not their first

I didn't have pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy but it looks like I am developing it now at nearly 36 weeks. I read you could only have it in subsequent pregnancies if a different partner is involved (not the case!). Back into hospital tomorrow and I will ask them, but a bit shocked it is happening.

My aunty had it in her 2nd pregnancy and not the 1st. My cousin was born at 32 weeks because of it. But he is fine now, 7 (omg) in August!

I know someone who had it in her 2nd - kept being asked by everyone if it was the same father - it was - so sometimes they would ask again when he wasn't around so she could 'confess'!

It's unusual, but not unheard of.

Oh at least its possible. I think my body likes to do the rare events during this pregnancy. Will get checked out tomorrow again and hope bp/urine was a blip yesterday.

Yes, it's possible to get it in your second, just not as likely as in our first. Ask for a 24h urine test, a single positive pee-test can be due to other reasons. Good luck. PET is no fun.

The interval between births can re-set your risk to that of a first-timer. That's where part of the theory comes from about a new partner increasing the risk as there's normally a longer period of time between births. Cx

i know this isnt exactly what your asking but i had eclampsia with ds1 and then pre eclampsia with ds2 (7.5 years after ds1) and both with same partner. i had protein in my urine from very early on from about 4 mths.
my mum had it with both my brother and I (same dad) but a lot worse with my brother and my nanny had it also. seems to be a family link with us,

I had hypertension in first pg and pre eclampsia in my second. Same partner but a 7 1/2 year gap between DS and DD. My Mum had 5 girls (Im the youngest) and she always had really low blood pressure. My 4 older sisters all have kids (9 altogether) and none of them had high bp. For some reason I was different!
