Pregnancy

32 weeks and feeling really nauseous and dizzy. What could it be?

My iron levels are fine apparently altho I have low blood pressure (well I did have at last check up at 28 weeks) but if I try to do anything I just feel so dizzy like Im going to faint and then nauseous - the nausea seems worse when I lie down. Bowel movements are loose but not particularly more frequent (TMI - sorry) and not actually been sick. I thought it was a bug but gone on for 5 days. Also, if it is is will it affect the baby?

I think you're spot on about it being a bug, you know.

I could have written the same post a couple of weeks ago - am now 36+, so around the same stage of pg.

Anyway, MW and I thought it might be anaemia, so did a blood test at my last visit. I got the results back this morning and it wasn't anaemia, it was an infection (I had a raised white cell count).

I was sweaty, dizzy and nauseous for about a week, maybe 10 days, so quite a while.

I have no idea what the infection was, it never crossed my mind that it could affect the baby, though to be honest, there's not a lot that will affect the baby, it's pretty safe in there!

I hope you feel better soon.

Could be the low BP, mine made me very dizzy and sick for a while.

Otherwise then maybe a bug, there is a lot around at the moment.

Probably best to check with your midwife or doctor if only to put your mind at rest

Could be high blood pressure - mine went from low to sky high really fast - I spent a few days feeling sick and spacey and then had a regular GP appointment and was sent direct to hospital. In the other 2 pregnancies if I felt like this I went to see the practise nurse and got my blood pressure checked - but it never was the same again. I know mine was really high but I didn't have any of the 'classic' symptoms - no seeing flashes. ds1 arrived about 12 hours after seeing the GP!

If you haven't had your blood pressure checked for 4 weeks it might be worth asking? If it is normal then it might be a bug.

I'm 34 weeks (ish) and I feel like this a lot. BP and iron levels are fine, so I just put it down to yet another exciting pregnancy symptom. I just try not to do too much and focus on the fact that in a few weeks it will go. Sometimes easier said than done when you have a toddler and a husband who is determined to suffer from more pregnancy symptoms than me but I just keep counting down the weeks.

Been to see the GP and she thought it was most likely an infection made worse by low BP and doing blood test for anaemia. Didn't look in my ears though but said to come back if no better. And I am definitely no better- in fact feeling really eally sorry for myself. Panicing about something affecting baby as well but think Im getting everything out of proportion as I feel so rubbish.,

Sunflower,
Do go back; go to the hospital rather than struggling on if you need to. It is not ok to be fainting so often when heavily pregnant
Don't be tempted to self-diagnose or guess at infections and things. Your immune levels aare very low when pregnant and you really sure be being monitored over a period of time if you are fainting. Best wishes.
