would like to ask some advice from anyone in who may be able to help. 29+2 weeks pregnant with 2nd, had very bad abdominal pain/cramp last monday night that eventually passed with a lot of diarrheoa and nausea. same thing happened on sunday and dh insisted i phone to seek advice, was seen and admitted for 24 hours, bloods all normal apart from white cell count which i know can be raised anyway and still waiting for stool sample results to see if anything shows. i phoned hospital this morning again as i thought the pain was starting once more but it didnt amount to much, seems to settle if i don't eat. they said just to try and rest, my query however is I have noticed in the past week or so that my underwear is quite damp at times with a clear fluid, i know it's normal to have discharge in pregnancy and i've had this but this throughout but this seems "extra". i haven't really paid much attention to it as it seems to come in spurts not all the time. i know i should have mentioned it but was too concerned with the pain to think about it and i now feel a nuisance and don't want to be phoning again if it really is nothing to concern myself about, hope someone might have some info for me and thank you for reading my worries!

I had just the same symptoms re:the dampness and my hind waters had gone,so you should get it checked right away.I was 39 weeks but you are so much earlier than I would honestly go in now and get them to check you if possible.

Forgot to add that I hope it is just extra discharge and that you are fine.

I think you should ring again - it could be that you are leaking amniotic fluid - I have a friend who has done that in all her pregnancies. Hopefully it's nothing - just loads of lovely discharge (ick) but you are too far from term to mess around with this if it is something more serious.

thank you or your replies, i really wish i had mentioned it when i was on the phone to them earlier, just dont want to be seen as a hypocondriac! i should know better as i would be the first to tell someone else to check it out but because i've had the contact recently just wanted others opinions, haven't even mentioned it to my dh so felt it was maybe just looking for problems iycwim where none are especially as it looks like it was just a viral thing with the abdominal pain and they let me home so easily

Yes, I would def GO to hospital. I was admitted in my 2nd pregnancy for having eaten a very hot curry and having pains , since we couldn't be sure that the curry was to blame I was there overnight. So, hopefully is nothing to worry about. My best wishes.

thanks for responding choc, i think it's the fact i've already been in and it didn't cross my mind to mention it, was too worried i wouldn't make to the loo! just didn't make connection for clear liquid, was more thinking along the lines of mucus/blood in underwear which i haven't had. i was also induced with ds so have never experienced my own waters breaking, really feel bad if i have to wake my dh and tell him as we'd have to wake ds and take him to my mums if i had to go in and if it was over nothing, especially as i've been keeping it to myself i'd feel like a drama queen. i know it's daft to think like that but really dont want to stress anyone out and feel the hospital might say well why didn't you mention it before if you're so concerned now

I would def at the very least ring hospital again, but even better go to the hospital and ask to be checked out. This happened to me at 39 + 3 with ds1, I phoned the hospital who told me it couldn't possibly be my waters going, but fortunately my dh wasn't satisfied and took me to hospital where registrar examined me and confirmed that my hind waters had gone and because I was at term I had to be induced (didn't even know there was such a thing as hind and fore waters - why do they never seem to teach you the useful stuff!!) I'm sure this won't happen to you but you need to get it checked out for your own peace of mind. Let us know how you get on, hope everything is OK.

i'm debating with myself here whether to go and phone, ridiculous i know but part of me is thinking to leave it to the morning as things always seem much worse at night, must be losing my senses with pregnancy hormones i think

Well done for getting checked and thats great that they don't think it's your waters. Hope your scan goes well.

Fingers crossed the scan is all OK and you feel better soon.

Have you come across these? They're quite expensive, but I did have in the back of my mind being able to check whether "leaks" were amniotic fluid or not at home might be very reasuring in a future pregnancy.

Thinking of you.

I had this once early in first pegnancy and quite a few times this time round. Last time was last week (i'm 31 weeks). thought it might be my waters but then it stopped shortly after i noticed it and didn't recur again so i left it. Because it had already happened in my first pregnancy I think I felt okay to leave it. so far it's been okay. If it went on for a few hours or happened a couple of times in the same day or so, rather than only every few weeks I'd definitely get it checked.
