Weight gain: is it possible when you're only four weeks pregnant?

Honestly,I'm not looking for justification for me eating too many pies, but I put on my jeans last week - which I haven't worn since well before Christmas - and they're SO tight - around the tum and legs .
Is weight gain this early in pregnancy on possible?

Second question: did/does anyone have/had nausea at night? (none throughout the day)

Hi Gateau

Is this a second pregnancy for you? I found that with my second pregnancy i put on weight earlier and started shoing earlier too.

Regarding your nausea I have heard you can get it at night but i only got it during the day really.

It might be because your blood sugar is dropping and your stomach is empty.

I also fond that when I was thirsty it made the nausea much much worse.

HTH

Hi lostin, and thanks for your advice.
Yes, second pg.
I really don't think I am eating any more than I was last year - less, if anything.
But everything feels so tight!

The weight gain could be just water retention at this stage - I put on a bit of weight very early on (I think it was water mainly), which I then lost when nausea kicked in. My nausea was always much worse in evenings - couldn't eat dinner most nights until about 11 weeks. Don't know why they call it morning sickness!

I did put on a lot of weight straight away - and then lost it all again when my nausea kicked in. Maybe it is our bodies way of fattening us up in advance!!
