Faint line appeared on the pregnancy test - am I pregnant??

Hi,
I've been feeling a bit 'off' for a few days so I decided to do a pregnancy test this morning. I've been pregnant before and these symptoms are very similar (I've also felt preg before but not been!).
Anyway I did a test when i woke up and after a few mins it was negative but I didnt study it for long as I was tired and went back to sleep! Well when I woke up about half an hour later there was a very faint line on the test. I know that you shouldn't read the test after a certain length of time but I've done many tests over the years and this hasn't happened before.
If I have conceived it's just about two weeks ago when it could have happened (wink) so this is the earliest it would show.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks Sarah x

I am due in august and that's how I got a +. did a test forgot to read it and two hours later there was a line!!

The evaporation line that you cna get confused with is grey it has no dye in it!! SOOOOO if that line has any pink/blue in it then it's likely that you tested early and it's a faint positive!! SO test again in a couple of days......it took about 4 days to get a definate line for me!!

Sarahx2005 - That's very similar to what I did. Did a test (actually for a bit a joke after a few glasses fo wine!!)... it was negative, as expected so I threw it in the bin. Half an hour later when I was up at the toilet again (weak bladder when tipsy) I pulled it out the bin and there was faint line. I nearly choked! Anyway, DH didn't believe me and said he couldn't see it. Went to the GP the next day, his test was negative, but the Nurser saw the faint line and told me to wait and test again 2 days later.... but she added "I don't think it'll be faint the next time". And it wasn't! Dd is now 8mths old.

I had never been pregnant before so I didn't know how clear the line would be. When I was 2 days late (I was always on time) I did a test - was very faint - but the leaflet said a faint line is still a line.

Over the next 3 days I did 3 more tests - still a faint line. Even got a named brand as I thought a supermarket brand meant cheaper=less reliable (uh no - just new user) Showed all 4 tests to dp and he said yep definitely a line - dd is now 6 months old!

Think I will use one of those pregnant/not pregnant tests - I am assuming there will be no room for doubt.

Oh this is exciting - let us know if you are etc.

my guess is that you are pregnant, sarah. i tested a day before my period was due and got a faint line at about 3 minutes. did it again the next day and got a line. 'a line is a line', as they say.

congrats!

Sarahx2005

I'd say your pregnant as I'm sure that the test will only read positive if the pregnancy hormone hcg is present.

So congratulations!!

It does sound promising but test again and read it within the time it says on the box, depending on the test the evaporation line (which can appear after only 10 minutes) can be the colour of the ink rather than grey - but usually evap lines are thinner than the other line and grey.......hopefully congrats to you!

Hi, The line on the test is the same thickness as the control line and there is definately a bit of a pink tinge. I feel such a fool as I had a miscarraige in Feb (totally unplanned) and we were being careful this time, I was debating getting my Mirena coil back in and we made love on the DAY that my period finished so how can I be pregnant??? I don't usually ovulate until around day 21!
My daughter was only just one last Weds!

Don't worry Sarah! You'll do fine, I'm in pretty much the same boat except I planned it all lol... my DS was 10 months when I got pregnant again, he's now 13 months and it's going ok so far...kind of ...definately test again! I really reccommend boots ownbrand +/- tests they're brill.

Hi, Yeah but I have already had four children! My eldest dauther will be 13 in June, my son is 10, sadly we lost our other son when he was four to a brain tumour - he would be 7 this month - and our darling little girl.
We don't have enough bedrooms for four kids!
HELP!

Awww hun! If it was first response I've had an 'evap episode' with those, the evap line I got had a pinkish tinge.... it could still go either way, here's a site with loads of pics of early response positives and some negatives... I got it from lurking around here link

Hmmm just looked at that link - thanks Ive tried loads to find stuff like that.
But now I'm even more confused some of the positives look like mine but so do some of the evaps.
Only thing is I had 5 of these tests and used a couple last week as I had my suspicions but they were definately negative and didn't turn positive or get the same 'evap'.
Who knows! Just have to sit and wait it out and I'm not good at that.
I do feel pants though and spent most of last night peeing

I just did a Clear Blue digital and got a "pregnant" message, and then did another before calling DH, which was "not pregnant". Help! Is this the same as the faint lines problems with other tests? Periods v irregular but FWIW last period 6 wks ago.

Hi,
If you have peed a lot and drunk a lot it will dilute the hcg in your urine and you may get a false positive result. I've read that you need to have not peed for at least 2 or 3 hours before doing a test, I would suggest that if it says pregnant straight away - you are pregnant - contrats!
