I am soooo bunged up and I feel like c**p.

So if someone can come along and give me the details of some miraculous decongestant that is wonderful and safe to use during pg I would be very grateful

I had this over xmas and was told not to take anything with a decongestant in it.

I did however swig Medised on an evening so I could get some sleep, and took childrens cough medicine during the day

Anything like sudafed/sinutab is a definite NO-NO in pregnancy.

I prob took a risk with the medidsed, but tbh was soooooo ill and bunged up I was being sick and could not sleep, plus I was in 3rd trimester, so figured I could prob get away with it

Vicks vapour rub, pillows upright, steam inhalation?

Hope you feel better soon x

No no no no, that is what I didn't want to hear

Thank you lilymolly, tis horrible I haven't felt this crap since before I was pg with DD and she is now 14mo.

I would be happy just to be able to breath slightly through one nostril, I'm not bothered about both lol.

I must admit to looking longingly at the Medised last night (I got some in for DH a couple of weeks ago when he had this) but decided against it.

dusty TV -it's not fair is it? I remember when both me and dh were ill during pregnancy, he practically bought the whole pharmacy out of medicine for himself, while I had to manage on paracetamol.

you can get saline drips for your nose, try steam inhalation, and facial massage/shiatzu. The shiaztu is pretty good actually.

Oh thank you, Shiatzu really, always good to know.

Piriton, do I have to be prescribed it by the GP or can I just buy it over the counter and take it?

Belgo, my DH was like that, he asked me to go and buy all of this cold related medicine for him and now I feel a leeetle bit jealous of him. We still have loads left as well and it is so hard to just not take a swig lol.

You can get it over the counter in tablet or liquid form.

My GP said vicks inhaler is ok. I know it's not great but it's better than nothing

i'm just at the end of a hideous cold and sinus nfection; i managed to get at least one nostril to breathe through by using a saline spray (sterimar) and those nose strip things that open up your nostrils to go to sleep. they trashed the skin on my nose but i didnt care as i looked rough anyway!
good luck!

I had it over xmas like lilymolly and the pharmascist (sp?) said I couldn't take anything for it other than paracatemol but I'm pretty sure he said something about me being in last trimester so maybe it depends how far along you are?

vicks inhaler should help a little bit and is probably better than nothing. Hope you feel better soon
