Back to back baby - need tips to help move him/her!

I'm nearly 35 weeks pg with dc2 and the midwife told me yesterday that baby was positioned back to back. I know I need to avoid sitting slouched and should perhaps get my gym ball out to sit on but does anyone know of any other good exercises that will encourage little one to change position?

You can check out the 'spinning babies' website for optimal feotal positioning.

The best things you can do are: going on your hands and knees (while the baby is awake and moving), vacuuming cleaning, walking lots.

But mostly I wouldn't worry too much. The chances are the baby will turn during labour, if not before. I certainly recommend that you DO NOT lay on your back during labour - I spent my labours on my hands and knees, and that helps get the baby into a good position.

Hmm, also suffering with gradually worsening SPD so trying to avoid too much walking, cleaning floors etc! Hands and knees is probably best option I think...

can you go swimming? that's always good exercise for pregnant women.

also you may want to think about a water birth? That helps with your position during the labour, and women with spd can also have water births.

Thanks belgo. Swimming is the one thing I still really enjoy now in terms of exercise so definintely an option. Have been considering a home water birth too so this sounds a good idea as well!

yes a home water birth is a good idea as it means that you a lot more likely to stay mobile during labour, and you will be more relaxed and able to adopt the most comfortatble position for coping with the labour and for giving birth. This will optimise the chances of your baby turning to a good position for the birth.

I had a back to back labour & what helped was huge pressure being put on the small of my back. I pulled on pj trousers across my back & also got dh to push with all his might on my back as I leant during contractions.
