Help with choosing baby names

We are currently struggling to choose a name for our baby due in a few weeks time. The problem is that the name we both really like is also the name of one of my dh's cousins. Do you think it sounds strange to use the same name as someone else in the family (when you clearly aren't naming them after that person), or am I just making this task harder than it needs to be? We don't see the relative very often, so I don't think it would cause too much confusion, but it just seems a bit weird to me. Please try to persuade me that it won't be a problem to use the same name

You could try posting as well in baby names and someone may be able to suggest a different but similar name .

One of my DH's cousins had a son and called him the same name as my DH. And one of DH's aunts called her daughter the same name as her sister so in the case of my DH's family the answer is obviously that it wouldn't be a problem.

I would struggle myself even if I really loved the name as it wouldn't be as 'special' to me. I am bound by a lot of naming etiquette though.

My brother and second cousin have the same name.

And my cousin and another cousins daughter have the same name.

If you don't see much of him i can't see a problem . Maybe ask him if he minds though.

I would just call that relative and ask them how they feel about it. If they are fine then I would go for it!
