Hi Ladies

I have briefly mentioned my ms on another thread but i really would love to know what helped relieve the nauseous feeling. Between hunger and sickness i seem to be running to the toilet all hours of the day everyday. im about 9 weeks pregnant and seriously hoping this will go at week 12 but for now i need advice. have trawled the internet and tried the ginger biscuits, saltine crackers, cereal but nothings helping me, its a nightmare. i hate complaining about this cuz i required clomid in order to concieve so i really appreciate the fact that im pregnant but its really getting me down. thankfully i work in an office on my own so its easy to run to the toilet un-noticed but i hate going anywhere at the weekend because i have a constant sick feeling, its really annoying. i find most times i feel hungry too which makes me feel sick, and most time i feel sick but not throwing up which i then force my to throw up to get rid of the sick feeling. can anyone help?

oh poor you
I had hyperemesis gravidarum, google that for ideas on how to deal with powerful sickness.
ginger biscuits did sod all for me, I ended up on a drip for 4 days!! but it was a great rest in hospital, so dont worry

if it is really really bad and you cant keep water down you need to speak to your doctor/MW and MAKE them do a urine test on you to follow your keytones..

keep your spirits up, time does pass and the end result is worth it. xxxx

The only thing that has worked for me (and I have tried everything!!) is extra strong mints.

I figure it must send a message to my body saying something like "look, I am cleaning my teeth, therefore I must have been sick already, so stop feeling sick now".

Doesn't always work, but the times it does, it's like magic.

Good luck finding your magical cure, as I sympathise, was so sick I ended up on a drip on Friday so I know just how low and down it can make you feel.

First of all my sympathies. It's the worst thing ever.

Second, don't hang your hopes too much on it going at 12 weeks: I made this mistake the first time round. Mine went at 17 weeks the first time and it's just easing off again at 17 weeks this time. Don't want to make you miserable, but want to prepare you.

Keep eating....if you feel hungry, try to find something you can face and eat it. If you don't, you'll feel worse.

Do you know how to search for messages? There are lots of threads on here on morning sickness. There are so many remedies, but everyone is different and different things work for different people.

Good luck, hope it passes soon.

Hi Valz

I sympathise entirely, I really do. My sickness started at week 6, was worse at week 10 (being sick every 45 mins day and night, did go to hospital and had a drip for an hour, went home feeling a lot better) but the nausea and sickness continued.
Sorry to say I thought it went away at week 17ish but it came back a week later and has been hanging around on and off (but no where near as bad and nausea no where near as server).

I still take Maxalon anti-nausea tablets each morning (I?m 31 weeks now). Get your GP or midwife to prescribe you something.

Don?t under estimate the effects of the sickness, on your physically and mentally. It is very draining, I've been knackered dthe whole time and am quite anxious about food being near by.

check out the morning sickness support threadhere

God luck. i hope yours goes at 12 weeks

Oh, and get some acupuncture, reflexology or see a homeopath!

Don't know if this is mentioned on the other thread but ginger capsules helped me. Also constant nibbling - I used to carry cashew nuts/ morning coffee biscuits/ dried apricots in my pockets. And don't ever worry about weight gain - it all goes with bf anyway, and your well-being is paramount now.
(you'll find ginger capsules in health food shops).

For some reason marmite on toast was my morning sickness stopper in my first pg, didnt do anything second time round but you might be lucky! Unless you hate marmite in which case I might have made you run to the toilet again!

Even though you will only feel like eating carbohydrates, try to eat protein as well if you can - keeps blood sugar steady for longer which helps. Try peanut butter on your toast for example. In the same fashion, if ginger biscuits help a bit try oatcakes with stem ginger (Nairns, from healthfood shops and some supermarkets) as there is more ginger in them and the oats are a slow release carb. On my antenatal thread there were a lot of people (including me) who ate a lot of salt & vinegar crisps!

Separating wet and dry food can also help, as can not drinking at the same time as eating - so sip water and then don't drink for 30 mins or so before eating.

Have you tried the travel sickness bands? It didn't stop it for me but it did take the edge off.

to cut down the excess saliva try lemon squash or tonic water with lemon slice in.

also sucking sugar free mints ie polos helped me,

preparing the whole days food in the hour or so I felt ok,

not to worry! I went off fruit and veg, brown toast, a lot of dairy, the thought of milk made me feel so ill

mine continued for the whole pg, I took anti-emetics but had to try about 4 diff types to find one that actually stopped me vomming!!

You have my sympathy...

full fat coke
crisps (ready salted)

I found I had to have these in the morning to get any chance of getting anything else decent in me without bringing it back up.

Also sausage and egg mcmuffin was fab at settling my tum (although the thought of that now makes me feel sick)

I joined MN for support when I was pregnant with DS2 as I had bad morning sickness and someone on here mentioned to keep really well hydrated because MS seems to get worse when you aredehydrated - this works !!

Its a nightmare isnt it? , these things helped me, ginger cordial, aniseed balls ( fantastic), salted rice cakes, chewing gum. I wore the sea bands on my wrists as i was willing to try anything! Best of luck xx
