Pregnancy

Sleepless Nights

I am 23 weeks pregnant and have recently been kept up for hours at night as I simply cannot sleep. Have tried hot baths, swimming to tire myself, etc, but nothing works so far. I get up on average 5 times a night and am then exhausted the next day. A lot of this seems to be due to the fact that I cannot get into a comfortable position now that my stomach is expanding rapidly. Does anyone know of any tips? Also, does anyone know if I can talk melatonin to help me sleep. As it is herbal, not sure what I can or cannot do.

I had the same problem and bought a wedge pillow for under my bump and found that that helped me get really comfy. I bought it from Mothercare. HTH.

I am also 23 weeks pregnant. This is my third pregnancy. This is the first time I have suffered sleepless nights due to the pregnancy. I really don't need it with a 1 and a 2 year old to run round after all day. I think that my situation is not helped by being able to feel every single movement of baby (hard!) Every time I get up to go to the loo he or she wakes up and starts bouncing round. That coupled with not being able to shut off and wind down mean hours lying awake at night.

I too could do with some help on this. I have ALWAYS been such a fab sleeper that this is new to me. Just to say - you are not alone!!! Reluctant to take anything. Hot milky drinks help - but just mean I am up again that bit quicker for the loo!
