oh reaction to unexpected second pg

found out on new years day that i am pg with number 2. total shock as dd is only 11 months. i posted the other day and had lots of lovely comments from mums with simalar age gaps but was wondering what you oh reaction was.
when we first found out he was as shocked as me but i have got used to the idea and am now excited. we live in a 2 bed flat and really want to sell but have no hope in current climate, he is already worried about his job security and i know another maternity leave is going to add a massive strain. but i cant help wishing he would just be pleased and excited. i feel like this baby is just a problem to him rather than a soon to be beautiful, loved child like dd1.
i have not got my head int he clouds. i know the problems we are facing but i wish he would just see some good. has any one else had this problem with oh

My dh was the same pud1. For the first three months he was very conscious of the extra financial and emotional needs that come with another baby and was very doom and gloom. Gradually he shows his excitement more and more, although still looks worried from time to time. Also, he is so in love with our first child, that he says that I can have the second one and he will hang out with DD1 - which I take with a grain of salt. He is a great and loving dad, so I know he will adore our next child. He is a bit of a worrier by nature.

I think it is a real 'men' thing as they feel the burden of providing for the family.

Also the economic climate for this year isn't the best and so many people are worried about losing their jobs and people who don't like their jobs feel trapped, as not a good time to job search. However, thank God for ebay and second hand sales. I don't think I will buy much new second time around. I've told my dh that I won't be spending much on number 2.

you are so right about dd1. my oh is the same. i think he thinks that we are taking some of her time away by having another.

Yes, he doesn't see her playing at home by herself all the time while I do the housework. She would love a little mate, I am sure.
