Hi everyone, Cha Cha here. Well it's been three and a half long years a couple of laps and much heartache. This morning i did a PG test after being 12 days late and having sickness after eating, to my total surprise it was a BFP!!! I had to lie down, cried my eyes out and lay in bed for a good couple of hours unable to sleep. Called my gyno this morning who said 'Congrats - if its positive then its positive!' I've to go for a scan or something on Monday. I am in total shock, denial, keep thinking something is going to happen, cannot believe this and probably wont until Monday. Anyone been in this situation before and what the hell do i do next? What am i supposed to be avoiding and can i tell my folks yet??? Thanks xx

Hi ChaCha, congratulations on your pregnancy

Some foods to avoid (according to the book my MW gave me):

All types of pate, mould ripened soft cheese, liver and liver products, peanuts and peanut products, shark, marlin and swordfish, unpasturised goats or sheeps milk or their products, only drink pasturised or UHT milk, make sure eggs are cooked until both the whites and yolks are solid, and make sure all meats are cooked until there is no blood or pink bits. Also get some folic acid supplements if you havent already. HTH

Once again congratulations!!

Hi Chacha, posted a message on the ttc thread - may have graduated but like to keep an eye open to see how familiar faces are doing - very pleased to see your news, especially after such a long wait. All the very best for a happy and healthy nine months - hurray!!!

Avoid - soft cheeses, blue cheeses, pate, alcohol (from at least first 12 weeks), wash anything that comes from the ground incl ready packedged salads, seafood ie prawns and other filter feeders, shellfish. Off the top of my head these are some of the main items due to food poisoning risks. Oh and no x-rays!

Up to you when your folks, chat to dh and go for it once you feel ready. We told our parents about this little un when we found out Christmas Day as we just needed to share with somebody and get a bit of support. All the best Chacha, lol x

On the folic acid front - Pregnacare is a good brand as also has iron and other vits as well as the required daily dose of folic acid.

Many congratulations - I still remember when I became pg with ds1 after 4 years of fertility treatment (including Clomid, ovarian diathermy, IUIs and 3 IVFs).Yes it is defintiely weird.

Unless everyone is awaiting a cycle result I would hold off telling folks until you see a heartbeat (usually around 2 weeks from when you would have been due, so I guess next Monday).

Thank you all for your replies. Ladymuck, I've just told both our parents, there were lots of tears and I just feel so strange. I am booked in for scan on Monday so i guess that will confirm everything for us. We are not telling friends or colleagues yet, i needed both our parents for the support. Where do i go now? Is it the ante natal boards?
