I think I have got gestational diabetes. What can I eat?

I had my 28 week blood tests last week and mw has left a message for me today saying I have to go for a GTT on Fri morning. I thought I might have developed it because I have glocose in my urine sample and I've been really thirsty for a couple of weeks but I've also had a bad cold so I thought that that might have made me a bit dehydrated.
I don't know what to do between now and the test. I assume that the dozen krispy kreme doughnuts that dh has just bought are out of the question but what about white bread and rice and pasta. Can I eat fruit or is that sugar laden? I have never given much thought to how much sugar I've eaten before so I don't really know what I'm doing.

Try and stick to wholemeal versions of bread/pastas. Not as nice sometimes.. but better in the long run. Diabetics, whether it's only gestational or not, are just supposed to follow a basic healthy varied diet. Low/no sugar options were possible will help. Don't worry about fruit and their sugars.. if you aren't overdoing the sugar with other foods then it won't be a problem at all.

Thanks. I'll go and make some wholemeal bread. Unfortunately all my other attempts have ended up like stone unless they are eaten straight from the oven.
