it should measure the same in centimetres as weeks. but a couple of centimetres out is not a big issue...

Naaah! It's only a rough guide afterall. Your MW will certainly comment if she feels you are measuring especially big for dates next time you see her.

i really would not worry, as hohohouse says, it is a rough guide. palpation, scanning and measuring fundal height all have a margin for error

My MW told me that there's a 1-2 cm margin of error, and that the position of the baby can change measurements a lot. She also said not to measure yourself, as you've got more chance of getting it wrong and scaring yourself!

just had the fundal height measured at the hospital as i had an appointment about a little bit of a scare over my waters possibly leaking and seems all is fine im 29+3 weeks measureing 30.5 cm i think im possibly more towards 30 weeks so thats nothing to worry about. right? xx

mum2b09 I was measuring 3cm more from the first time I was measured and kept having growth scans and test for gestational diabetes (spelling??) from about 24 weeks. At my 20 week scan there were two students and the scanner said to them I would have a 9lb baby but wouldn't repeat this when I asked her.

Kept being told my dates must be wrong and that I was at least 2 weeks further on. I worried as I had put a bit of weight on before getting pregnant, went up to a 14 from a 12 and I am 5 foot 8. Dd was 9lb 6 when she was born (ow ow ow). It is not an exact science!!

i have just been measured in this pregnancy for the first time, am exactly 28 weeks, and measures 32 cms! Am booked in for GTT on mon and because of this measurement think they will scan me too. My ds was 10lb3 so they're keeping an eye on this beast!!

i think a few cms either way isn't an issue, i am 36 weeks and measuring 34, and my best friend was 7 cms behind by the time she birthed, and had a 8 lb 1 very healthy little girl!

Try not to worry! xx
